I bought a new 1526 last year, time for 50 hr. service. The OM says after changing hydraulic fluid and front axle fluid the systems must be bled. Here is my problem...the pictures showing the location of the bleed screws in my OM looks nothing like my engine and I'm not at all sure where the bleed screws are. I guess I'll start with this question, is bleeding the systems actually necessary? Anyone have this experience with this model? If bleeding is necessary I guess I'll have to take a picture of my engine to the dealer and hope someone can/will point out the bleed screws.

Why would you expect bleed screws on a hydraulic pump or (most likely a suction) filter? Bleed screws usually would be fuel system related.

My New Holland does not have bleed screws for front axle and hydraulics. Drain front axle and finals and refill to proper level. Hydraulic system seems to self-bleed as never had a problem with air in system after fluid change. When I change fuel filters I do have to open bleed screw and purge the air out but no issues after that.

I agree but it's right there on p. 71 of the OM. I'm going to have to pick someone's brain in the service dept.

I agree. Normally no reason to bleed hydraulic systems. Cycling them (whatever they do, cylinders, lifts, etc.) gets rid of the air pockets and so far as I know all of them are vented to the atmosphere in part to avoid pressure buildup due to heat, etc.

I would not bother hunting the bleed screws.

If the front axle is like on my GC 1725 MB ... It has "vents" on top of each side of the axle which needs to be opened to "bleed" off any air trapped so the oil can flow over to that side, let it sit 30+ minutes and check level again ... Vent is circled, arrow is fill, which is only on one side ...

The hydraulics should self bleed with use.

We run a Massey 1533. Yes, the steering/pump system has bleed screws and yes, the air does need to be bled. We were amazed at how much air was trapped in that system and had not worked its way out running for 20 minutes.

The front axle did not require much. Like the photo supplied by @Shawn T. W. , we filled, let settle, checked again, closed all caps, drove around a bit, opened caps, checked level. All good.

And yes, the Massey Service and Operator's manuals for the 1533 tell you to bleed. So we did. That was at our 600 hour service last summer. Yeah, 2005 baby... We use her way more than the previous owner did.
