TODAYS SEAT TIME

I screwed up today. Was 90° out and i decided, stupidly, to go remove the 2 trees that had fallen across my trail in the last wind storm. Everything was going good, but sweating like a pig (im dont think pigs sweat, but i digress). I put down my chainsaw to go sit a spell. After 10 min or so i got back into tractor to get a drink of water and decided to move the logs i had already cut so i could sit in air conditioned cab awhile.

I backed up the tractor and front tire ran right over my chainsaw.

Bent my nearly brand new bar and broke the brake handle off of my 30yo Stihl 029 farm boss. My favorite saw.

No good can ever come from working on a Sunday.

Lucky i had a back up saw. Got work done after cussing stopped.

Tore into the saw, looks like only damage was the brake handle and bar as i thought. I already ordered parts . Looks like ill get this repaired for under $100.

At least i didnt totslly trash the saw.
Or ruin a tire :)

Widened a friend of the family's driveway today.

Took the driveway dunnage along the edges and relocated/compacted the dunnage in front of their shed to create more parking.
I didn't take pictures, but the stump was grinded down a bit. It was useful for building the base in that area to give the ground some stability.
Also had a friend of mine come by with his hydrovac to compress the rebuilt areas which was very helpful
Normally I use the chain harrow after a job like this to tidy things up, but I grazed the top surface with the tine rake.

Proud of myself for keeping a straight line so I took a picture of it. :D

The only way to eliminate those thistles is with a good brush killer It will not kill grass and legumes.
I've been using Gordon's Brush Killer... works amazing! Going to try using Pasture Pro on the pasture area since it's cheaper.

Fixing a mowing obstacle. I've slid the mower into the ditch on rain slicked grass one too many times!!!

It's 92 degrees, so building the rock retaining wall will take a few days, but with no recent rain, and none in the forecast, the grass will not need mowing for several days...perfect time to work on it.

Reusing free fieldstone from a guy who is dismantling a rock wall, so should be an easy project. Seat time has been cleaning out the ditch and moving the fieldstone for building a stacked rock retaining wall.

Picking up another load tomorrow and will start the wall build...but it's the kind of work I greatly enjoy and the results always provide huge satisfaction!

I congratulate you! Building a wall with field stone is an art, somewhat like bricklaying. If I want one I'll hire it done, I don't want it to look like I did the job.
The local university bought one and had it moved. The company that got the job numbered every stone as it was removed from the original wall.
