Bill of sale from dealer

It is obvious you and Kenhar have little understanding of what it takes for a company to do business.
Your scenario infers some guy walked into a tractor dealership, stated “I’d like to buy that tractor”, then left the dealership and went back to pay for said tractor and was simply given a receipt of payment.
Really?
You think this company has no idea who bought one of their tractors?
Based on the original post, that is exactly what happened. He bought a tractor and got a receipt. The business, guy, or whoever sold the tractor is not the issue. The issue is having documentation to prove the tractor, truck, gun or whatever the item in question is belongs to him. I was a building contractor for over 20 years, in hospital management for 15 years have owned a farm since 1974. We have 4 tractors, 3 trucks, 4 trailers. I can prove ownership on each with titles and bills of sales that have serial numbers. I know firsthand the importance of paperwork and documentation. Get your head out of your back pocket, you live in the real world. Time to wake up.

It's sad and really disheartening when a forum such as this to share information or advice to help someone that may be in doubt or in a spot where they need help becomes a battleground to exchange insults and insinuations. Opinions are like noses and other familiar body parts, everyone has one. What works for one guy may not work for everyone. Vehicles come in different colors so everyone gets what is right for them. Have a good day and lol.

Ok. You actually think that the dealership did no paperwork for this sale?
Then I’ve been selling tractors all wrong for 12 yrs.
I’ll make sure I get no name of the customer, nor an address for delivery, nor documentation for tax purposes, no phone number of the customer, no financial information and he)), I’ll just give receipts to anyone coming in and gives me money and I won’t keep track of which tractor moved off the lot.
I’ll just take money, give the person a receipt and wala…another tractor sale I know nothing about.
I suggest you take your own advice and when you awaken, I further suggest you get real.

And where was it stated the op did not receive paper work prior to his coming in to finish a payment?
Is that what you two think really happened from a dealership that has millions in inventory, warrantee claim assertion, financial floor plan records, overhead accounting practices, payroll obligations, service recording, inventory intake, insurances and the myriad of other financial and business obligations necessary to keep the doors open legally and financially?
Cheez.

What’s sad? Someone like you giving advice enjoying your fear mongering of something apparently you know next to nothing about.

The original question was about needing a SIGNATURE on the receipt. There wasn't any mention of the receipt not being detailed enough or inadequate in some way.

Several people responded that you don't need a SIGNATURE unless you have a title transfer issue that requires it. We all make major purchases every day and a printed receipt is what everyone leaves with. I think the question has been answered -- Hasn't it?
