7 hours is probably 1/1000 of its useful life. I once bought a 2 yr old rental unit with 1500 hrs on it. It had dents and scratches on every panel. I used it for 14 yrs before downsizing with only a starter and battery repair. I think you just let the machine you wanted get away.
I get it you wanted shiny brand new and you were disappointed. But I think I would have made a deal.

I don't use my equipment that much, my LX3310 turns 5 years old next month, and has about 140 hours on it.. This KX will see a similar life during my ownership.

If the dealer had just been transparent, I absolutely could have dealt with that.. But they weren't. Zero concession was offered to make it right, and zero contact from the dealer since they picked it up.

I've already located another machine 120 miles away.. I actually got a better deal not that it really matters.. So I'm confident everything will end up just fine..

I would not accept that as new, because it isn't, but to me it looks like a dirty almost-new machine with one part that has some scratches on it. Not anything remotely like a "POS."

Do you really think it looks 20 years old? Seriously? Have you ever, once in your life, seen a machine that old that looked this good?

I would have asked for a different machine or enough money back to make this one a good deal. You can't sell used machines as new, and at 7.1 hours with a gouged-up part, this one is definitely in the used category. It's worth maybe 85% of the new price without that damaged part, because machines depreciate instantly as they leave dealerships. I would value it at 85% of new, minus the cost of fixing that part.

In order to discuss a $15,000 partial refund seriously, that machine would have to cost you around $100,000. What did you pay?

I understand wanting to have clean, shiny stuff when you pay good money for it, and anyone who criticizes you for that is crossing the line. You are entitled to buy what you want, the way you want it. But saying this machine looks 20 years old is just not honest.

That just looks like dirt from sitting outside on the dealers lot for a couple months to me. They could have used a power washer on that but I’d call that machine new. There’s no way they have been digging in the dirt with that machine for 7 hours. My 40 was delivered with 3 hours and so was my 75-3. And they were both actually new. Not demo machines. I guess they let them run 2-3 hours at the factory to check for leaks. It’s your money to do with as you want but i think you’re being a baby. How do you think the machine is going to look the first 10 minutes you actually use it?

Most of the grease fittings got like this from sitting on the dealer's lot for a couple months? LOL

I expect a few run-in hours on every machine I buy. I keep my equipment and vehicles looking virtually new as long as I own them. Apparently you don't. That's fine, you own yours and I own mine, we're entitled to do with them what we want..

My point is that the shop new exactly what this machine was and looked like and didn't attempt to be transparent.. If I were the selling dealer I would have called the buyer and said the machine has some use, come to the shop, let's look at it together and we'll work it out. But that's just me...

Where is the gouged up part? I’ve looked at every picture and all I see is some dirt from sitting outside a couple months. There’s zero scratches on the blade which leads me to believe that machine has never done any work. Maybe a couple hundred bucks to power wash that is in order but asking for a 15 percent discount much less closer to 50 percent is just ridiculous for a little bit of dirt.

I bought a used CAT D3 from dealer and dealer called saying delivery is delayed???

Did a little investigating and found they rented my machine for 2 days…

Looked up the rental rate and said need to refund to me… dealer said sounds fair… then I said I want 30 days to return if there is a problem…

Second was harder but got it in writing.

It was a very good machine for the 17 years I owned it.

Thanks,

I said the engine compartment looked ~20 year old. I was somewhat joking, but everything under the hatch was covered in a layer of dirt, not unlike the compartment under the seat.. . The point of my comment about taking $10k off the selling price was that no amount of $$ was going to change the delivery experience and that that value was unreasonable and would never be in play or be offered by the dealer.

It's in the pictures under the air cleaner.

A 15% discount may seem like a lot. Well, Google "instant depreciation." It's the way the world works. That machine is no longer new, even if it's almost as good as new. I would expect at least 10% off without that chewed-up part.

You can't use up 7.1 hours just moving a machine around a lot. Somebody did substantial work with that excavator. Would you buy a car that had been driven from Miami to Orlando and back by strangers and pay the new price?

I forgot; most people up north think Florida is the size of a football field. It's over 230 miles from Miami to Orlando.

Good for you, standing by your guns to get what you want. People who don't care about dirt and scratches shouldn't tell you you have to feel the same way. If you want it painted pink and equipped with a BBQ smoker, that's what you should have.

Let me get this right, Would you have accepted that machine as 'new' in that condition? If so I'll provide the contact info and you can buy it.

The dealer didn't go out of his way LOL, he checked local inventory and made a call. It happens every day...

That dealer has 100+ machines on their lot, every one looks new, is clean and likely has virtually no hours.. They represented that KX as new.

A good, honest dealer would have had me come in and look at the machine, discuss its prior use and condition and allow me to make an informed decision. They chose to attempt to hide the facts and ship it to me like that. The sales guy put the key in, turned to me and literally stated the machine had no hours on it.. Hmm....

Dented? Gouged. Not sure. Looks kinda crappy.
Lower bolt bracket already rusting. Bad factory paint coverage?
Air filter cover not put on correctly.
Is kubota getting sloppy at the factory, or did someone remove the cover on a “new” machine, and why so?
At least the factory person who applied the kubota sticker , cared enough to orient it correctly with the “TOP”😂, but not whoever last assembled it.
Even the rubber drain nipple on the air filter cover looks like it’s spent some years in the sun .
Maybe that’s just the picture? Not sure
Definitely is not new. Almost new, slightly used, yes
