I haven't heard one here since maybe I was in my 20's.

Someone just reported hearing one two counties to our west. They, too, report they haven't heard one around here since the 80s.

Got a pic of this Blue Jay today, unfortunately it was overcast and a flat day for pictures. Thought I would make it dramatic and I think it worked.

The Doe mom is slightly out of frame, I have been seeing them every day for a week.

I find a lot of dead things in our skimmer. Rarely survive the whirlpool of death. If I find them alive while I'm swimming, I'll scoop them out and let them go.

It's times like this that I wish for a better camera. Only had my old iPhone on me. These two swans were sitting there preening away, and a constant stream of feathers was floating away on the water. Crappy picture doesn't do it justice, so use your imagination. (click a few times to enlarge)

Also, if you look way across the lake, there's a white blob. That's a white duck with her mallard boyfriend. They've been out on this lake together since early spring.
