I need to rent a post hole digger and the rental company is not familiar with the LX 2610. He said that the auger may need to be started at a slight angle depending on the height of the tractor.

It's a IronCraft 3-Point Post Hole Digger - PH Post Hole Auger | IronCraft | Tractor & Skid Steer Attachments

Anyone familiar with this model and my tractor?

Not familiar with your machine or the IronCraft auger.

However, the manual for the auger states the angle of the boom on the auger can be adjusted for needed ground clearance by moving the A frame to different mounting holes.

Note that the manual for the auger indicates a minimum pto hp of 25. The LX2610 pto specs at only 19.5 hp.

You will just have to try it. We had a 16 hp compact where that was a problem.
Sometimes even with different mounting holes on the auger frame, a small tractor 3pt lift arms just do not have the range to lift high enough so that the auger will hang vertical. And it has to hang vertical to start an accurate hole.
If so, the only answer is a shorter auger or smaller PHD. Both are out there.

I'm sure, but non in this area. My only other option is to rent one of those PHD where it's on wheels and the engine is on one end and the auger the other. As long as it doesn't twist out of my hand, I'm OK.

Your success with either type auger will depend to a large extent to the ground in which you are digging. Either method will only go down by gravity and the weight of the unit. You may need to rent a Bobcat or something similar with the hydraulics to force the auger down.

I purchased a Dirty Hand Tools PHD a few years ago for my BX25 and it works great with my LX2610 as well. Its been several years but $449 delivered to my home via Amazon was probably the best implement I've ever purchased.
