hello have a Beaver 3 and I I don't think I ever found the oil dipstick. I searched all over the engine compartment and nothing. The manual says nothing. I changed it once and I've been just topping it off every once in a while for years. I may have known way back then where it is but I have CRS disease. It's making a hard to hear slight knocking since I drug it out to move 12 yards of gravel. I did put half a bottle in but I have no idea if that's enough. Can you tell looking at the engine through the filler cap?

Assuming filler cap is atop valve cover, like nearly any other engine, you're not going to be able to judge oil fill level by looking in there. Can you at least find information on dip stick effective length, and make up your own substitute? You can buy unmarked dipsticks that you cut and scribe to your own length, I've had to do that before for engines with custom fab'd oil pans.

I had a Mitsubishi tractor. The dipstick was on the right side of the engine near the back and low enough it could reach into the oil pan.

There's a round piece of metal on the engine in the center under the fill cap. Maybe the dip stick is supposed to go there? I wasn't being clear enough, There is no dipstick or hole for it in the engine compartment unless it's somewhere I can't see from the top or sides. I did find one comment somewhere that the manufacturer liked to hide it, I don't see anything on either side.

That was it! Way down and behind the engine on the right. I had never noticed it before and didn't search there yesterday. I assume than oil dripping out of it means I overfilled. Gonna change it anyway it's nice and black. I was proud of myself yesterday getting a blown tire (sidewall and tube) patched up. Hydros dripping on the bucket I can live with. It was bought in 1970, came with the property, but sat outside for decades. I serviced everything a couple hundred hours ago, time for a refresher. And thanks for the link, the little booklet that was left here is completely useless. Rototilling is next!
