So, my ‘22 XE got the heavy springs for the rear Ohlins shocks (upper rear springs) from TEC Bikes USA, and I set up my suspension. I went full clockwise on Compression and Rebound on the Ohlins…. Then came counter clockwise 8 clicks on both. I set my preload at 8mm (I’m 255 with gear) and my sag came in just right in the rear with 8mm of preload dialed in.
Forks: I went full in, then one full turn counter clockwise on the preload, (OEM springs)… Rebound / Compression… went full in clockwise, then one complete turn counter clockwise on both.
Out doing Scrambler stuff today, the suspension was night and DAY different than before. Before, it was all OEM, no settings.
Out on the wildlife preserve today, dropped the hammer. I’m no fan of the Karoo 4 front tire. It definitely washes out if you push hard.
I absolutely LOVE this bike!!!!
The wife’s Street Scrambler got new tires (Dunlop Trailmax Raids .. 110/80 front and a 140/80 rear), along with Fox shocks in the rear, TEC progressive spring kit up front. Her bike also is night and day better. About to go from a 41 tooth rear to a 43 tooth rear on the Street Scram to “shorten” the long first gear. She absolutely LOVES this bike! Making the Street Scrambler into a NOT-so-Street Scrambler.
Out riding in a local wildlife preservation area, some very technical areas, rocky, steep climbs and descents, wet in areas, nice speedy gravel areas, and about 15 miles of nature. Love these bikes!!!
