    Best subcompact for the money

My father and a buddies father have COMPACT size tractors (New Holland and Kioti). Both are happy with the tractors accept for 1 issue... both bog down under any kind of heavy grass mowing or mowing up hill. Neither of them mow fast either. My dad sometimes regrets not just getting the sub...

    Best subcompact for the money

I went through this exact scenario 2 winters ago. At the end of the previous summer, my '89 Wheel Horse 520h broke a rod. I spent the winter doing the same kind of research you are talking about here. I mow about 1.25 acres at my house and had the opportunity to pick up a mowing job that's...

    Shop ideas to consider

Other than what runs through the attic, which I can easily get to, I ran all of my wall receptacles through conduit. Very happy I did it this way. Since complete the wiring 2 years ago, twice I have ran an additional receptacle off of the metal box for a heater fan and a bandsaw. I also...

Weld table, what tools are your favorite?

I don't have a picture at the moment but I zip tied cheap metal rings about 1" to the cords of my grinders. I welded a few hooks around the sides of my table and I can just hang the grinders on the hooks.

The one thing that you wonder why you didn't buy sooner?

Having a welder has opened up a world of oppertunity.

    UTV Winch?

Finished it up yesterday. I still plan on buying a quick connection at some point so I do not need to remove the cables so much.

What have you done with/to your GC Series 2300, 2400, 1700 Tractor TODAY

Finished up the wiring for a 3500# winch I picked up cheap for dragging logs out where I can cut them easier.

    UTV Winch?

I do not plan on pulling the tractor with the winch. The plan is just to pull firewood logs to a location out to a trail where I can either buck it or hook my log drag on to it. If the log is so big that the winch wont drag it, I will probably just put the effort into clearing a path or using...

    UTV Winch?

Just something quick to bring this thread back up... So Rural King switched winch brands and the old ones were on sale. Picked up a 3500# X Factor for $75, so even if it gets ruined, it was cheap. I have it mounted to a receiver on a plate I bought from amazon. All the wiring complete except...

Maybe the older models had clearance differences then? Mine is a 2012 2400 so maybe old enough its not an issue. I can weld and I have considered making my own. Maybe I could use different size chain to make them fit better.

OK then there are plenty of people to answer my next questions lol... What chains are you using? There is a set on amazon for around $95 that I am interested in. I do not want to spend a ton of money. I have the R4 tires. Although they do better then I thought they would, I would like more...

Are those of you that live in heavy snow areas, and plowing a lot of snow, using chains on your tires?

    Truck Question

I put the new tires on. Everything seems fine. That may have been it. It still feels like pretty soft steering but maybe I never paid much attention to it before and that must be normal for Chevy trucks.

    Truck Question

Just from a quick observation, I did not see a rag joint. Yesterday I happened to park in a grassy area. I put the window down and stuck my head out. I saw every little bit of movement in the wheel turn in the tires. I am about 90% convinced it's the tires. It made me more conscious of it...
