Starting over - the allure of country!

It's around 3/4 acre and 13' deep in the middle.

Starting over - the allure of country!

OP here: I thought I would update how my project is coming along . . . The barn was built. The pond was built (and stocked) and 17 months ago I planted native grasses and forbs. I also planted 25 cedar trees where I would like visual barriers and 25 red oaks that will (in somebody else's...

What tractor or piece of equipment for this hilly pasture?

It is hard to see the actual slope on your hillsides from a photograph. I get a pretty quick "pucker" on slopes that more experienced people mow easily without concern . . . having said that though, it really doesn't look too bad, particularly if you mow up and down the slope rather than...

    A solar powered generator?

I have a similar setup in my off-grid barn. I use a 1800w storage battery with inverter, connected to 400w of solar panels. My electric needs are quite low . . . mini fridge, LED lights, occasional air compressor use, chop saw, small tools, etc. I wired the barn using "male inlets", similar to...

Starting over - the allure of country!

Figured out how to attach pictures. Here's the barn, nearly done (not my skidster) and the pond in progress. I think the L3301 Kubota will prove to be a sensible choice. I've been using it to collect brush, trees etc with a Homestead grapple. I can notice the clear difference between it and my...

I want to add some pictures of the pond build but can't figure out how to do that . . . can anybody help?

Starting over - the allure of country!

OP here . . . just an update. My project is off to a good start. A local excavator company is building a pond, and a machine storage building (28 X 36' with an additional lean-to on the long side) has been built. I've also already started planting native grasses and forbs and have ordered for...

    Battery disconnect switch

Resurrecting an old post . . . I need to leave my tractor at my land, 10 miles from my home and am interested in a battery disconnect as additional theft deterrent. I am an electrical novice (that's being generous. I know next to nothing about electrical systems). Will the inexpensive plastic...

Starting over - the allure of country!

Yes. I do have a place to store a tractor over this winter if I find something soon. After a pond gets sited, I'll figure out where a small machine shed and/or cabin will locate. I doubt I'd leave the tractor there before a locking shed is built.

Starting over - the allure of country!

OP here . . . thanks for all the input. It is much appreciated. I looked at a used B2301 today . . . it seems awfully small and light. . . I'm inclined to pursue the larger options as you have all suggested. I drove by our land today, stopped, turned off the truck and just listened to the...

    Starting Over

( I posted this on the main forum page before I realized I should probably put it in the Kubota section) We lived on a beautiful 80 acre farm for nearly 20 years. It was a labor of love. When we bought the ground, it was overgrown, abused, ignored . . . but we saw the potential and had a...

Starting over - the allure of country!

We lived on a beautiful 80 acre farm for nearly 20 years. It was a labor of love. When we bought the ground, it was overgrown, abused, ignored . . . but we saw the potential and had a vision. We turned it into a truly beautiful place. I learned to drive farm equipment and worked my butt off to...
