It's difficult to describe myself in a few paragraphs.

If you have never farmed before, it's hard to explain the smells, the sounds, the cool autumn air and why it's so much fun working 16 hour days driving back and forth at 3mph or the joy at stopping to repair something that broke when soybeans are cooking and you are losing test weight by the hour. Farming is in my blood. Each year, my brother and I head back to our family centennial farm in Illinois and help dad with harvest. Sometimes Dad drives the grain truck, but normally he just sits back and watches us operate. I love to take walks before bed and just soak in the gentle rustle of corn leaves and look out over the fields under the moonlight.

Even though that is only a few weeks out of a year, I'd say that describes me fairly well.

Currently my wife and I have been blessed with 24 wooded acres in Texas that we are working to clear out for buildings, trails and some small field plots. My goal is developing it into some type of ag business with things like honey bees and garlic and some woodworking products and who knows what else. It is exciting to think where God will take us in the future.
