1987 JD 318 Onan Motor. Will run for 20 minutes, then just shuts down. Wait about 15 minutes and it starts up again and then does the same thing.

I have a 1987 JD 318 that is leaking transmission fluid and when I fill it the fluid never makes it to the sight tube. Any ideas on how to fix this? And, I am not mechanically inclined.

I have a 1987 John Deer Mower 318. It uses a lot of oil, and smokes. Has gotten worse this past season. I have been told that it cannot be repaired, cannot put in new rings, because the Onan motor at 1400 hours just stops working; and I might as well junk it; that it is all one sealed unit. Any...
