R4010 Shuttle Shift Getting Harder and Harder To Move

Over the past two or three years I have noticed that the shuttle shift lever has been getting tight and harder to move. It was first noticed in cold weather before the machine got good and warmed up. Once everything got some temperature in it, it was fine. Now, much stiffer than it used to...

    Triangular PTO Shaft Tubing Questions

Thanks Jim. That chart should help me at least find out what I have here. Tough to read some of the dimensions on the gif on my monitor but I think I can make enough of them out. I have a metric dial caliper around here somewhere. So, I guess I will just have to wait for a cross-country...

    Triangular PTO Shaft Tubing Questions

I bought a used finish mower with too short of a PTO shaft. There was not enough overlap and the inner tube stretched the outer and today it failed when the outer tube split. The inner tube is badly worn and deformed as well, and can't be reused. All the other PTO shafts I have are even...

    electrical gremlins?

I needed to fuel up the 2010 4010 today. Nothing too odd about that. I noticed that after pouring in 6 gallons, it still was reading "Empty." That is strange, eh? But the last thing I noticed is while it's still on empty when the ignition key is turned off, the temp gage and hour meter are...

    R-4010 safety flasher switch

Hi, long time no see. Busier than a one armed paper hanger these days. When I got my R-4010 it had been sitting out at the dealer, in the weather at the coast, and had several corrosion related issues (serious rust in starter and loader valve controls). Since I got it, it has been under...

    PICTURES ONLY thread

No, it's a fairly worn out Kubota 3PH model that I bought and mounted on a cut down boat trailer. It is a little short of tongue weight but it is still better than a shovel. The box on the tongue is where the pump lives when it's parked.

Backhoe update. I'm making progress (Video included)

Some folks have asked if I ever finished my towable. I did, and found it was about worn out in many ways. I use it now and then in light duty situations.

A neighbor needed a new outhouse hole. I lined it with old barrels so the moles can't fill it up. If you line the hole, you never dig it again.

    PICTURES ONLY thread

About 50 years ago, people around here were sold on planting Port Orford cedars. Here in our wet region, they made it for less than 40 years and died of root rot. I saw that a friend's driveway, about seven miles from here, had a line of 12 of them that looked pretty sad with their rotten...

metric mower belts Rhino XM750/ Sitrex SM 230

Here's the fix I did for the rusty 'wheel axle' bolts. Though they were metric, I discovered that a 3/8 NC bolt threads freely though the metric captive nuts, if only just slightly loosely. I replaced the bolts with stainless 3 1/2" X 3/8" bolts with stainless fender washers and lock nuts...

metric mower belts Rhino XM750/ Sitrex SM 230

That belt on eBay doesn't look right. I ordered them today from the NAPA store, as I really want to pull the old ones before they break, and that can't be far off. They charged $52 ea. plus whatever the freight will be from Georgia. I think the belts need this pattern to handle the back bend...

metric mower belts Rhino XM750/ Sitrex SM 230

It appears the used Sitrex SM 230 mower I just got is the same as a Rhino XM750 as both call for two XPB 2800 metric drive belts. It has regular old solid "B" belts on it now and I can see these don't like the extreme back bending they have to endure, as both are seriously cracked and ready to...

    Broke something today

Here's pics of the repair. When the one side broke, the other side cracked. So I ground grooves into the crack and welded it too. I know my vertical welds are nothing pretty. Also, here is the modification it came with to mount the winch and the receiver hitch. I added pegs to store chains...

    7000 Series Air Filters

For you 7*** owners out there: I am not near any dealers and I needed an air filter element in a hurry once about fifteen years ago. I took my plugged up one in to the NAPA store and tried to see if it was a standard element. Apparently it isn't. What I did find out is, it is identical to a...

    7275 injection pump question

I was just looking out the window and there was my old busted pump pinion sitting there on the sill. I thought, I should get a macro snapshot for this thread. 11/16" diameter.
