My neighbor has a jd x540 and has replaced coil, plug, and wire but still is not getting spark in one cylinder. He is swamped since is his tranny blew in his planting tractor, so i was going to go see if i could help him with this problem. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated...

I have 65 3020 gas w/synchro, I was backing wagon out of shed and went to clutch and stop and it kept going... i was able to smack it outta reverse and now when you go to shift it it grinds the gears. After taking the cover off there is about an inch between throw out and plate...the clutch...
