Just can't get a good basic truck, like the old days!

Don't forget the beef ribs. I have a pit made from a 120 gallon propane tank. It does a good job on the briskets and ribs. I also have a smaller pit that was my dad's. One time my wife and her brother and sister in law went to the casino while I stayed home by myself and ran the smaller...

No, but in 86 I could get a chicken fried steak and 2 made from scratch vegetables for $2.75 at the local beer and liquor store that had a kitchen serving lunch.

I had an 85 s10 extended cab with the v6. I was able to get 25 - 26 mpg on the highway. That was the main reason I went with the smaller truck. It had a/c and no stereo and rubber floor, which I prefer over carpet. I added a nice after market sound system. The first time I carried a load in...

How much more power did the diesel have than the standard 4 banger? I wouldn't wish a chevette with the gas 4 on anyone. I drove my sisters going up and down the hills on I30 in Arkansas when was 19 or so. I had to get up to 75 plus going down the hill or I would hit 40 going up the next one...

No complaints on more power and better drive trains. I just passed 280k miles on my 2013 F150 5.0 4x4. My only complaint is I don't need or want a touch screen, nav, and all the little things they are now adding for a 1 to 2 mpg increase. Cylinder deactivation and start/stop tech are a waste...

Mid 2000s is about then they all started adding more and more tech and sensors to the trucks. After that the EPA under Obama started adding more and more restrictions. That confirms what we have all been talking about. It is stupid to add $10k or more to the price to get one or two more mpg...

Use the gears. This is why I have hi, medium, and low range with 4 selections in each.

I have a clutch and powershift. I have no issues doing loader work at 1500rpms. I used to get regens every so often until I read the manual and followed it.

They spray brine on the roads here in Texas now, sometimes way ahead of a potential storm. Every time I see the lines of it on the road I wonder what that is doing to our rivers and lakes. It can't be good. They seem to think it is an easy fix for icy roads and no one asks what problems it...

Most of what I do is at 1500 rpms unless I am running a mower or attachment that requires more pto rpms. I use the mid range gears most of the time. I rarely need high or low range. I read the manual..lengthy times below 1500 are not how my tractor was designed to run. Others may be...

Just can't get a good basic truck, like the old days!

I had a Granada with I think a straight 6 in it. We burned up the transmission in it towing a 14' Sears Gamefisher. My dad had some heavy duty transmission with a shift kit put in it. That thing was bulletproof after that. You could feel it shift. Ugly ass car, but it got sort of decent mpg...

I want the TTSD with the more powerful diesel engine that rolls coal at every light when you give it fuel.

That 115HP reminds me why we used to put aftermarket intakes, carbs, and ignitions systems on the old Chevy's my friends and I drove. It was pretty easy to get more power out of a 350 as long as you could get it to run clean enough to pass emissions tests.

uh no.. I consider a basic truck for work to have 4x4, elocker, auto trans, a/c and heat, electric windows, and at least a 6.5' bed and a cab not big enough to carry an army. Heavy duty cooling is also a must in Texas. I like the extended cab to be able to keep stuff dry or locked up. I don't...

I agree there are way too many gadgets. My 2013 does not have nav or a big touch screen and only has what I wanted. I don't think I can find anything similar new these days. Maybe I could get close if I ordered one. I refuse to get a 5.5' bed that I can't even lay a rod and reel down in...
