    Trailer Tarp--Budget Conscious

Awesome! This setup is a bit different from kits that use a pair of ball bearings to roll up the tarp where mine just uses the sideboards as rails to roll and unroll. The front of the tarp is secured to the front board with clips like shown below but could be done by other means...

    Trailer Tarp--Budget Conscious

The reel is made of 1-1/2" (approx 1-3/4" OD) steel EMT (ElectroMechanicalTubing) with a 1/4" slit nibbled lengthwise to capture one end of the tarp. The gray parts are 3D Printed ABS and the "hubs" are pressed into the ends of the EMT. In use the tarp is unrolled back over the trailer...

    Tractors and (upcoming) tariffs?

Why and when were they being "plowed under" instead of being harvested?

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

So the 8 run is from the RV battery to its distribution panel? For the group 27 etc you mention, what is the charging source? Vehicle battery only? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to understand.

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

Does your rv have its own battery and, if so, how long does it take to transfer charge, from the vehicle, a low battery on the rv with the 8's?

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

You're pretty close according to this chart showing 8AWG pair delivering 22-24 amp at a total length of 50 ft. (Have to double the length of one wire) https://info.waytekwire.com/wire_sizing

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

Thanks! That is some feedback I've been looking for. I've been using the 8AWG and 60 amp breaker to drive a 3500lb winch under heavy load but don't know how many amps it pulls. The pic below is the nameplate on the trailer pump showing 1.6KW which equates to around 130amps at 12VDC. Can I...

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

I have a pair of 8AWG from the battery to the rear Anderson 50amp receptacle. Would like to connect this to the trailer battery but concerned about how much amperage a low battery at either end would try to pull. I do have a 60 amp breaker switch in the line. Anyone care to guess how the 8AWG...

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

I'm planning to install some wood side board extensions on the trailer and the stake pockets measure a full 2"x4" inside to inside. Anyone know why they are so much larger than 1-1/2"x 3-1/2" a standard 2by4? Must be a reason but not very handy for standard lumber.

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

I looked at the SureTrac as well as the LoadTrail version with the 10" wheels. I like the compactness but not the narrow stance of them. I haven't seen anything similar to the Norstar single axle 5x10 dump for the price.

Are you running 2AWG to your winch?

5'x10" Dump Trailer 3.5K Single Axle-12VDC Power Required

Yes, I'm interested in a solar charger. Will do some more investigating to see if the Dakota is set up for 7-pin. I used a wiring kit to plug in the 4-pin several years ago and now have added a 7-pin that plugs into the 4-pin so can use either one. I could connect the 12VDC pin to the wire...
