We live in the southwestern Virginia countryside; the largest nearby city is Blacksburg. Our home is on 7 steep acres that rise to a flat-ish spot for our house and are next door to our daughter's 20. We raise fruit and ornamental trees and shrubs, perennial flowers, some vegetables, and chickens. For years we lived on a farm in SE Ohio, where we raised sheep. I wrote a book about that: Shepherd: A Memoir—

My interests include reading, gardening, landscaping, poultry, and TRACTORS! I got started with tractors when my father sold his nursery business in Florida in 1988 and gave me his 10+ year old B6100E. Later I got a larger Kubota to mow more grass faster on our acreage in Bloomington, Indiana. We moved to southeastern Ohio where I raised sheep and operated a JD970. I had many implements—disk, post pounder, auger, box blade, rear bale spear/carryall, boom pole, finish mower, brush hog—but not the most important one, a loader. My retirement tractor is a B2601, and I love its FEL, stupidly my first!
