Older Stihl getting hard to start

Check out Chickanic She has taught me a lot. She posted this a couple of years ago, and it changed the way I start my chainsaws. You will note she says she doesn't have a fix for your easy-start. However, she has lots of videos on changing fuel lines etc.

New Holland TC 40 DA 2 Speed hydro?

Late to this, but I think you will be pleased with your tractor. I have a 2005 TC40DA that I purchased new, based on my research here. Back then there was a gentleman - and that is the only term to describe him - with a member name of jinman, who taught me everything I needed to know about...

Automating multiple battery tenders - how often to turn them on/off?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to do some more research on what the cost savings might be for completely powering off the units. For now, I'll keep them plugged in. Barry

Automating multiple battery tenders - how often to turn them on/off?

I run a half dozen battery tenders in my unheated barn. Three tractors, my ZTR, and two old Jeeps. I hate the idea of running them 24/7 all winter long. I already have home automation running in the barn, so I can turn individual outlets on/off remotely and on a schedule. I've mainly used it...

    Three-Point Hitch Lift Arms

I just added a 4500Z to my stable. Since I already had the HF quick hitch on my TC40DA, I mounted one on the Ventrac. Interestingly, I did have to modify the 3-N-1 hitch (the pins were too short for the Cat 2 bushing)...

    Winter prep for snow season.

Sorry for bringing up an old post, but just purchased a 4500Z. It has the standard dual-wheel setup and I understand the need to remove them for winter operation. I have a 1400' gravel drive that raises 250' above the county road. We have more ice than snow issues and all my other tractors...

    ventrac brush mower review?

I just purchased a 2020 4500 with a Tough Cut mower. I've had it for a week and I'm blown away with what this tractor and mower can do. I mowed my pond dam with the slope meter flashing at 26 degrees! It has duals and it walked right up that dam, which hasn't been touched since last fall...

    Side by Side or 4x4

Just to be clear, I was pushing the early CJ - 2a, 3a, 3b, and the early CJ5. Check out www.ewillys.com for a listing of Jeeps across the country. There are many restored Jeeps in the modern sxs price range. And just for fun, watch some of the old videos showing what these "Workhorses of the...

    Side by Side or 4x4

I am late to this party. My son and I have run www.farmjeep.com for 20 years. I take my 1949 CJ3a with the hydraulic 3-point shows across the midwest. People have no idea that the Jeep was used as a tractor. I tell them, in terms they can understand, that the Farm Jeep was a cross between a...

Restoring antique plow - need to remove rusted nuts/bolts - how much heat?

Thanks for all the responses. The plow is a very rare 70+ years model. You can read about one my friend found here - Newgren WP-1L Plow – FarmJeep.com I need to save as many of the fasteners as I can. Nuts, I can split, but need to save the rest. I also wrote back in 2015 about another...

Restoring antique plow - need to remove rusted nuts/bolts - how much heat?

I don't own or need a full cutting torch set. Will the small Benzomatic Brazing Torch type kits (w/ oxygen) produce enough heat to get the nuts red hot? If so, any recommendations on a kit? Thanks

    Help iding box blade

Had a reader at www.farmjeep.com ask for help in iding a box blade that was being used on a Jeep with a 3-pt hitch. I don't have any info other than that. I haven't seen a lot of box blades made specifically for Jeeps (lots of back blades) Any idea of maker or date? Thanks, Barry

Me Funnel stopped working after 15 years - or is it my fuel?

My 2005 NH TC40da doesn't get a lot use - less than 700 hours since I purchased it new. I have treated and filtered every once of fuel using a Mr. Funnel filter and have never had a single issue. Last fall, I started to top off the tank before parking it in barn for limited (to wood splitting...

Making hay with a Willys Farm Jeep

My son Evan and I have run FarmJeep.com since 2002. We have just completely redesigned the Web sight and added a bunch of new items. One of those is a section on making hay with a Jeep. You can read it here - Haying – FarmJeep.com I just added another post to this section today. I hope you...

Buying used plow in Canada. What do I need to get it back in US?

I've been searching all morning and can't find an answer. I am buying a 65 year old rusty 2 bottom plow from a farmer in Canada. What paper work is required for each country? I've been advised to use a broker, but for a $350 purchase that seems to be a bit much. Thanks for any advice Barry
