Kohler 26hp twin surging at high throttle, okay at medium to 70% throttle

It may indeed have some jealously - that JD is a beast. IMHO they cut grass better than other other 'homeowner' grade mower(s). Carb did not come with a pin or instructions. What kind of pin, to do what? I have a bunch of carb cleaner "brushes", wire/needles/etc.... Is that what you meant...

Kohler 26hp twin surging at high throttle, okay at medium to 70% throttle

Hi RayIN, just to make sure ( I use Seafoam alot - and I think it's 2oz/5 gallons of gas): You really mean a 1/2 a can? I guess the idea here is, where Seafoam is so much more flammable/combustible that it will eliminate the possibility of "bad gas" being the culprit to the surging?

Kohler 26hp twin surging at high throttle, okay at medium to 70% throttle

Yes, it does smooth out with a little choke. Haven't put deck on to mow lawn yet....

Kohler 26hp twin surging at high throttle, okay at medium to 70% throttle

I have a new OEM carb on here and all linkages are setup correctly. Assuming I may have a governor issue but figured I'd ask to see if anyone has thoughts on why this engine (only 350 hours) wants to surge at high throttle? Thank you, Jay

Kohler 26hp twin on Craftsman riding mower - oily carb???

Quick update: I removed the breather tube and it's clean with no noticeable cracks or any damage. Other than a little normal grimy/dirt around the top of the engine and the breather housing, it all looked good. Even down inside the breather housing - very clean. So I believe that is...

No, the filter is just clean foam rubber.

Kohler 26hp twin on Craftsman riding mower - oily carb???

Great points, thank you. I'm going to give the breather tube/setup an extremely closer inspection as you and TomPlum have mentioned it. Don't believe over filled oil, really dirty air filter or dipstick not seated are the issues. Compression is quite good (both around 155-165) so not...

Kohler 26hp twin on Craftsman riding mower - oily carb???

The airbox is definitely not dry/clean. If you look at the images it shows the box and I think it is the left side that us prerty oily. I’ve never noticed a “breather” with reed and foam filter. On the engine a parts diagram- where would I look? THANK YOU!

Husqvarna LGT2454 - drive belt not tight (missing spring?)

Hi all, I have a Husqy 960450007 01 and the drive belt is quite loose. Maybe the belt is stretched but ...it barely drives. Noticing on parts diagram that there is a Return Spring listed (#161 below) but I'll be dammed if I can see this under my machine. Can anyone comment if they have one...

Kohler 26hp twin on Craftsman riding mower - oily carb???

Thanks Tom. No oil dripping from breather hose. If anything, oil level is a little on the low side. Thinking if I add more oil, it's going to "suck it up" to wherever it's leaking from, no? I set the valves, put new gaskets on with gasket sealer and didn't over torque - tightened evenly and...

Kohler 26hp twin on Craftsman riding mower - oily carb???

I have this Kohler Courage 26hp (SV735) twin engine and noticing oily residue up around the aircleaner box by the carb, the front of the carb, under the carb at solenoid and directly below it. Stupid question but: What would cause this? Engine is NOT overfilled with oil. Valves are set...
