    Wildfire 4 post lifts

I like the Challenger. 4-post 15,000#. Best I could tell, Challenger has (had) BOTH US and off-shore lifts. When I bought my #15,000 US lift, they also had a 14,000# offshore for less money. Similar features. Shipping weight notably less. (My theory is less shipping weight implies less steel...

    Wildfire 4 post lifts

I have two 4-post lifts. One is a popular, name brand off-shore made unit, the other a well-known name brand, US made. There is no comparison...including the purchase price! If I had it to do over again, I'd have 2 US made lifts. Cheap lifts are like cheap helmets... "Cheap head, cheap...

combining power pack and aux hydraulics to up gpm?

I don't think this is going to work. It appears you need more tractor to generate that kind of hydraulic horsepower. A quick internet search: Results: Calculated hydraulic horsepower when pressure is 3000 PSI and the flow rate is 37 GPM is: 64.76 Horsepower (rounded to the nearest 100th)...

Thoughts on tilt trailers with aluminum deck?

Aluminum trailers tend to be fragile and not a great candidate from back yard welders. I have both aluminum and steel trailers. Aluminum snowmobile trailer has been very reliable, except for the steel subframe for the axles rusted away. Aluminum PWC trailer no problems. Aluminum offshore boat...

Thoughts on tilt trailers with aluminum deck?

I have a 4' fixed, 18' tilt aluminum deck 14K aluminum trailer. I move my compact tractor, mini-excavator, 275 gallon totes, gas powered sprayer... I need to be careful to limit scratchig the aluminum deck, using cribbing... Being careful, I don't find it too slippering.

Black soot and smoke but no “spark”

Glow plugs and gas? Yep, that's an explosive combination! :) Kidding aside, the first thing I'd do is check the fuel. Is it fresh, winter fuel? Any water or ice. Make sure fuel is flowing freely through the filter(s). If possible, use a heater to warm up the tractor. If the fuel is good, the...

Need Advice on Front Mount Snow Blowers

I should of included "correctly sized blower motor" to this sentence. Yep, the hydraulic motors on the at least some brands of blowers are sized to the application.

Need Advice on Front Mount Snow Blowers

Hydraulic blowers love power. Get a correctly sized PTO pump and reservoir. You're looking at 3/4" hose or a bit larger. Winter ambient temps with a reservoir likely will not need a cooler. I've run 20 years without a cooler and it's fine. Reasonably warm fluid temps will help prevent water...

That's painful to watch. But nowhere as painful as the many mishaps I have participated in my life! :)

Who is excited for snow season? Not us! We're depressed due to lack of snow.

I used an open station with a snow blower for over 10 years. It worked great ...my hands and face froze, and when a cloud of snow blew back on me it was even worse! Most times I looked like a snowman when finished! Then I got a heated cab tractor. I'll NEVER go back! Heated cabs are SO much...

    Hearing aid question

The frequencies important to understanding speech are way lower than 15K. Speech is mostly in the 2K to 4K range with 8K about the upper limit. Much lower/higher than tis range is what a human with "normal" hearing is capable of hearing, not what a hard-of-hearing needs to understand speech and...
