Skidder or Tractor? If you could only have one.

Here is the definitive answer to this question (as I have thought about it a LOT)! There are three main considerations- 1-The skid steer is only good if you are NOT working alone. IE you have a crew of people. The reason is that you can't get in or out of a skid steer unless the bucket is up...

    Can’t Sell My Bushhog

Where's a link to the listing? If the price is right, I would consider picking up an extra mower.

    Trailer Weight Distribution

From From what I see, the last two photos will most likely cost you a tailgate if you have to back the trailer into a tighter space. Just something else to consider.

How Many Have More Than One Tractor?

Well I have 3 tractors (not including lawn tractors)... 2016 RX7320 2017 CK2510M 1986 Ford 6610 The RX is large and for most of the 'big work' With a backhoe and high reach FEL, this thing is an animal. The Ck is my 'little' tractor. This is for most of the smaller or quick jobs. The Ford is...

    Homemade wooden snowplow - thoughts?

Not to sound negative, but I can't imagine it would work for any real plowing. I could see it falling apart on the first snow bank you push into. Plowing has tremendous forces involved. Wood just can't handle it. I think what the other guy did with the door was just mount it over his loader...

    skidding logs

If this is something you plan to do more than once, build something like this log skidder. I made it for pulling logs out of the woods where my tractor can't get to (tight trees and steep hills). It works perfectly. Automatically picks the log off the ground when you move forward. If going...

Bucket work with clutch /shuttle Vs hydro.

Not only do I not wish for a hydro, about 10 years ago, I bought a second smaller tractor for doing smaller jobs on the ranch. I thought I'd try a hydro, so that is what I bought. After a few months, I trading it in for the same model in stick. Lucky, I didn't take too much of a bath as the...

Have you ever sold a tractor due to no dealer support?

I purchased a Montana Sub compact tractor that I loved! Never had an issue with it. But the dealer network completely dried up. So I had to sell it before I had problems with it and couldn't fix or sell it.

    PTO driven stump grinder

Before you go that route, does your tractor have a hydro-drive feature or is it standard gear transmission? You really need the hydro drive to 'finely' control how slow you move forward and backwards with some grinders. Something to think about.

    Side by Side or 4x4

Wow, I guess I am in the minority opinion here, but side by sides (or UTVs) are NOT really farm equipment. This is MY opinion and here are my reasons. They are toys. They are SUPER high priced (as you are finding out) and the parts availability is almost non-existent after about 10 years. As...

    Thoughts on 02 F450 dump

Here is the thing, if the rust is the body panels and such only, go for it. If the frame is rusted badly, you may want to pass. A few years ago, I was in the exact same position. I had a chance at a 2003 F350 with landscape dump and plow. I got it for a steal. The body was in worse shape...

    Thinkin about..

There is a youtube channel called "Project Farm" and the guy there does very analytical comparisons between all types of tools. When he did the chainsaws, it was clear that nothing touched the Stihl. I have been a long time user of Stihls and was looking to change over for two reasons. The...

    UTV - Trying to Decide

I know that UTVs are attractive options, but for the money, function, and overall value, you are WAY better off getting an older 4X4 small pickup (like an old ranger.) For less than $3K, you can have a 4 wheel drive, heated (and poss A/C) fully enclosed cab truck that is STREET LEGAL! Beyond...
