I just unscrew the filler neck they give you and pour directly into a funnel I spill less and fill faster

    Attaching pto implements

I keep a can of wd 40 in my tractors tool box. A little spray on both the pto and the shaft before I try and put it on the tractor helps a lot

    Yard Raking Attachments

What about one of those carts with a vaccum that attaches to a mower? Or mdifying one that you could vaccum up the lawn as you go over it? Or a big blower that goes on the back of a tractor? That is what I use to blowmy leaves into the woods.

drywall fine thread screws to install drywall in wood studs instead of metal studs

They will work fine and will be easier to drive in old wood than course thread. I have been dong sheetrock for a long time and all I use is fine thread. Aside from being easier to drive into old wood 1 screw works for both metal and wood

One Tractor To Do It All?

I mow and plow with my tractors and my neighbor has a zero turn. He mows a lot faster than I do and the zero turn is more manuverable.

Equipment buying negotiation strategies, haggling stories sellers, etc.

I have found that cash is king! Showing up to look at something with cash in hand is a really good incentive for a seller to sell at a lower price. Also if it is on craigslist I wait to see how long it stays on. If it is on a long time at a price I think is high the seller maybe more willing...

    Call before you dig

In Nj and Ny where I work you call before you dig, different numbers in each state and in NY it goes by county. THey notify 5 or six major utiltes. Gas, electric, sewer water phone and tele- communications. If they miss something then it is on them. But they only mark out what belongs to...

JD 2040 running pto Snow blower

I have a kubota l2800 with a clutch and the rear speed in 1st is 1.5. It does well even in deep snow with the rear woods snow blower I have. What I have found is slow speed is most important. At 1.7 you should do ok. The worst part as everyone has said is the looking back wards. I do like...

    2018 F450 V10 Dump Truck

How old is the starter? I had a backhoe do almost the same thing. Would drain down a new battery like it had a dead cell. Auto parts store told me the windings were bad on the starter. Put in a new starter never had a problem again

Who knows about stacked-block retaining walls?

I would put a perferated pipe at the bottom with a place to drain out at the end of the wall and one in the middle. I would bak fill with 3/4" crushed stone and then cover the top of the stone with cloth before I covered it with top soil.

Tractor hard to start in cold

Lower viscosity oil in the winter may help. Check your manual and see what is required for colder temps. Do both batteries. If the are wired together the weaker one will fight the stronger one. I remember having a diesel pick up dual batteries. They always said to change both at the same...

    Best and worst chainsaw?

I own stihl all the way. 3 chain saws a 180, 250 and A 440? Also a blower and demo saw. The 250 is not a bad saw always cuts good for me but the 440, not sure of the exact model #, cuts like a monster even with a dull chain. All my equipment is older and has needed minimal maintenance.

How much do you care about pre emissions

All of my machines are pre-emissions not by design only because I have older machines. They are easier to work on and it is one less thing to break or pay to fix.

Is boiled linseed oil a useful rust preventative for seasonal implements stored outdoors?

Linseed oil would remain sticky. Also you have to be carefull if you get it on any rags and then leave them around in a pile. It can spontaneously combust.

Tractor Sizing 6' brush hog on a 30Hp tractor

I have a Kubota l2800 which is 29 hp and I run a 5 foot brush hog on it. I also run a 6 foot finish mower on it. It handles the 5 foot brush hog much easier than the 6 foot finish mower and the grass I cut with the finish mower is not that tall.
