    4110 steering update ... a lesson learned

I've recently installed a new water pump, thermostat, radiator reconditioned & new water hoses. I did all this myself - no problems. The p'steering unit under the wheel was leaking & the seals on the rams were leaking badly. I decided to dismantle the assembly & take it into the dealer...

Renewing the cooling system on my 4110

One of the best engine insurances you can take on an older diesel is to make sure the cooling system is A1. I've replaced the water pump, thermostat, fan belt and hoses. I've also had the radiator reconditioned. It's still good after 30years. Try getting 30 years from one of those new plastic &...

Advice on condition of power steering rams

Hi there. I have a Ford 4110 diesel 2WD, 1988 model. The hydraulic steering rams are leaking. I've examined the pistons on the rams & I notice they have some chips and pitting on them. I figure that if I just put in new seals then the rough patched on the pistons will quickly wear the seals &...

We've set up security cameras around our property after thieves helped themselves to our John Deere X495 lawn tractor and Honda water pump. Anyway, no thieves yet on camera, but the red fox is a regular visitor. Cheers, Ged

How I stop the radiator clogging up ...

Mowing dry grass atomises the grass fibre and quickly blocks the radiator along with seed etc. Hang a piece of fly screen across the grill. When this clogs you simply shake it clean. Saves lots of time cleaning the grill and radiator on the job. Picture shows clogged screen ready for shaking...

    cutting deck height setting ...?

Hi there. We're having trouble setting the slasher deck (Kanga 'M' Series 1.8 metre). When we adjust it to a suitable height so it is not touching the ground, it creeps back down. Is this normal & just a process of the hydraulics seeping, or is there a way to prevent this and somehow lock the...

    Is this a real ROPS?

Thanks for all your help so far. Just wondering if my tractor (pic attached) has a real ROPS. The label on the frame says it's made in West Germany by Fritzmeir, and has various serial numbers including an OECD number. It's not called a ROPS - they call it a 'safety frame'. You can see in the...

Hi there, My ordered workshop manual is still in the post. I need to know where the exact filling points for the tranny and diff on my Ford 4110, 2WD 1988 model are. Are the points in the pics correct? The filling point for the tranny seems to have a breather button on it?? The diff seems to be...
