I Just remembered that when I bought this, the guy told me that he just did a oil change/ filter change . I checked the oil gauge and it was slightly above full. I was reading some info online, that if to much oil had been put in this engine, it can cause the oil to bubble up and feed into the...
Im gonna go ahead and order a new breather reed valve assembly { $30} and install it and see if that stops the oil coming thru the vent tube into the carberator assembly. I only paid $600 for this mower and it really does run good and cut well , so maybe the reed valve will fix the infrequent...
Could this breather reed valve on the left side { labeled C} , be the reason why oil is getting into carb ? It supposed to be .040-.080" gap , but maybe if it is worn out and the gap is to large, its letting oil thru and needs to be replaced ?
Looks like you were 100% correct. I had a small amount of motor oil sitting at the bottom of the aluminum housing , right where it enters into the carberator.
I can go ahead and drill a small hole in the bottom of the aluminum housing, to allow the small amout of oil that collects there every...
I will see if this is my problem. If I wanted to drill a small hole into the bottom of the intake horn , is that area to be drilled made of plastic or aluminum ?
Put the new valve seals on, adjusted both valves to .006" ...
mower ran for about 40 minutes without any puffs of blue smoke...and then all of a sudden the blue smoke happened.
so its not the valve seals.
I spoke to a John Deere technician and he told me, that if it is periodic blue smoke ...
My 2 valve seals came in today. I will put them on tommorrow and see if it stops the periodic thick blue smoke issue. They were only $15 so if that dont fix the issue, im not out alot of money.
Understood. Im just surprised that you have over 16,000 posts on this 1 forum and never knew that " Ty" was abbreviation for thank you. ...but at least im glad to know I was able to provide you with some information you were not aware of.
Ty is a abbreviation for thank you. Surpirsed you did not know that. In other words, I try to be courteous to people who are willing to answer questions.
Ty...I pulled the valve seals off..and they seemed tight on the valves, but there was some oil inside the valve housing...so that should indicate a valve seal issue ? Can you give me a photo of where the crankcase breather pipe goes into the carb intake and the location of where I could drill...
I just bought this mower last week for $600. It has 880 hrs on it. It starts up easy , idles great { even at the lowest idle setting} but about every 15 minutes it puts out a huge puff of blue smoke....but it does not do this when it is initially started.
Would this definitely be a symptom...
Here is the BALDWIN BT111 mounted on my machine...I would say it is about 2x taller then a normal car oil filter...
It does not have any writing / markings on it that indicates if it is a oil filter or hydraulic filter.
The PH8A seems to be labeled as only a oil filter and not a dual oil/hydraulic filter.
I would guess that using the incorrect filter { even if it threads on properly} is not wise due to GPM fluid ability/capacity, micron filtering sizes along with bypass ability if the filter became clogged...
