Sigjig, I recently experienced this issue on a new to me NH TC40(1991? series) and it was creeping both while going forward & reverse. I replaced the return spring, the replacement spring was an upgraded spring bigger and a little more firm. I have more room to adjust spring, just wasn't sure...
