Hydrodrive gets jerky after 20 or 30 min. Motor rpm is steady,but has run out or like free travel going up & over hilly ground.

I have Honda rider mower with hydro drive , after 20 min. of mowing it starts surging like it had a lot of free travel in the drive. However in reverse it drives smooth, what do think is wrong? Help!
