    Adjustable beds

+1 on the SleepNumber beds. With other mattresses, I've had issues where it develops a sag at butt level, and that triggers back issues for me. We've had the SleepNumbers for quite a while now, and they are still like new.

    O'Reilly Auto for hydraulic hoses

The one time that I compared price, the parts store was about the same price as ordering the original hose from Kubota with shipping. I don't need a new hose that often, and I appreciate the convenience of having a new one made while I wait.

How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

Building the mechanics of a robot that can match or exceed human physical capabilities seems less amazing to me than the programming aspects of AI. It doesn't seem that far-fetched to have a robot that could lay bricks, shingle a roof, or do some of the disgusting and mundane work in a nursing...

How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

And I just realized that I spelled Isaac wrong. TBN obviously needs some sort of AI helper to fix that for me. 🤪

How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

We used to have a cat that refused to use a litter box if it already had cat poo in it. She preferred to go stink up someplace else. I don't know what made me think of that. [emoji23]

How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

Do you know how to find the politics thread these days? https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/forums/the-back-porch.180/ I find it strange that you aren't posting there, but you insist on talking politics in other threads.

Parents with dementia, how dealing with that has gone.

From what I've seen, medications can sometimes have a significant positive effect on the patient's quality of life. I my FIL's case, even his short-term memory is still pretty good. His first obvious symptoms were severe paranoia and delusions. He believed he had murdered and raped people. He...

    And then there were two

It never gets any easier. If your horse was paired up with a buddy, I suggest giving him some more attention and activity for a while. We had two old horses go within a couple of weeks. The second one looked so young at heart that he seemed like he would live forever. Once his buddy was gone...

Weed wacker - extending string life

IME, the biggest variable in breaking the line is the patience of the operator. The END of the string is what does the cutting. If you take your time, the end will gradually wear down, and then you can pull out some more. If you put the head right up against what it is supposed to cut, it is...

    Florescent Lighting Bans?

I agree, but that wouldn't be the California way. ;) This is the land that pays people to inspect your garbage, and they will fine you for throwing away recyclable materials. If someone breaks into your car, don't bother calling the police. They won't respond to that sort of thing. 🤪

    Florescent Lighting Bans?

I can understand the frustration of having this change forced upon you, but IME the LEDs are superior to the fluorescents in all respects. They use less electricity, they are more reliable, they provide better lighting, and they eliminate the need to maintain ballasts. I haven't tried the LEDs...

    backhoe question.

I have been fine with my Woods 3PH BH for the last 20+ years. Connecting and disconnecting definitely requires patience and attention. There are plenty of opportunities for something really bad happening, if you get careless and/or frustrated. If I had to connect and disconnect it regularly, I...

    Hose ID

Some of the auto parts stores in my area will make a hydraulic hose while I wait. I just bring in the bad hose, and they make a non-leaky one just like it. I have found the prices to be similar to ordering from the tractor site, with no waiting.

How could Artificial Intelligence become dangerous?

I thought this link was entertaining and vaguely appropriate for this thread. I haven't been curious about AI, and I'm thinking that I'm not missing much. https://davebarry.substack.com/p/death-by-ai

    R.I.P crash325

IIRC, the five stages of the grieving process are denial, bargaining, anger, sorrow, and acceptance. Not everyone experiences all stages, but we all have some sort of process that is required to move on in a healthy manner. I can't judge whether her feelings are now sorted out, but I wouldn't...
