On the back of the valve body is this large feature with a flat-head slot in it. I was afraid this would be in there so tight I wouldn't be able to get it. Not the case. It was barely torqued...

Aaah! That makes total sense now! Sportsman762's video helped tremendously. If the internal seals failed, there can't be any creep, as the actual rod would have to displace more or less fluid, which it cannot because of the valve. I always enjoy learning new things.

Thank you all for your replies. I do not believe that the list piston seals are compromised. When the valve in in the center position, the lift arms are quite solid.
Bad check valve, eh? Would this check valve be on the actual joystick body? I would look up the parts diagram for the joystick...
