    Repair or new wiring harness?

Also excellent - if I can't get the spade to re-engage with the connector, this beats the pants off replacing the harness. Thanks for two good options!

    Repair or new wiring harness?

    That's perfect - thanks, I'll give that a shot.

    Repair or new wiring harness?

I've got a Sears / Craftsman GT6000 - I've experienced some intermittent starting issues, and I think I see what's going on. One of the spade connectors in the ignition connector is loose enough to be able to slide out - you can see it in the photo here. Q: is this repairable w/o getting a...

    First electric tractor ride

Are the electric tractors any more or less affected by some of the "right to repair" stuff that's hitting major vendors like JD? I've been reading about hackers essentially jail-breaking some JD tractors to allow access to logging & system config settings. It seems like with EV tractors being...

    LA145 K46 tranny is shot

FYI, in case anyone finds this thread again, the LA-145 with the rebuilt K46 innards is still serving well for lawn-mowing duties. The ebay link above still works, so if you find yourself in this predicament, that or the approach buckbros mentioned may be better options than junking the...

I have no idea what to buy

I've got a little over an acre and a half, and I appreciate the suggestions for a ZTR. For myself, the bigger lot came with a bigger driveway, so I appreciate being able to plow, plus I'm always towing a cart or aerator or something around the yard, so I wound up with a garden tractor. Made a...

    LA145 K46 tranny is shot

At one time, I saw there was an upgrade kit available (to K66, I believe), but the kit has become so expensive that just getting a different tractor becomes a more reasonable alternative. With this transmission being so problematic, my understanding is that all manner of swaps & upgrades have...

Pushing A Tractor To It's Limits

Looks like he's practicing to be a sprint car driver... glad he didn't have a mishap.

    LA145 K46 tranny is shot

That may be (more or less) what the rebuild service I linked above is doing to renew / repair the parts. I can confirm after putting everything back together again, the transmission was really crisp - much nicer than when I bought the tractor. Thanks for the info!

    Diagnosing fail-to-crank - Craftsman GT-6000

I have a feeling I've got the same thing going on. After pulling all the connections apart and testing the ign switch and PTO switch (both tested ok), I re-assembled and it turned over just fine. So, it's working now (good), but I don't know which connection was corroded (bad).

    Diagnosing fail-to-crank - Craftsman GT-6000

Correct - one small terminal on the solenoid. I checked the fuse itself, and it's fine -- I'll start looking for corrosion next. Thanks.

    LA145 K46 tranny is shot

I only use the LA145 for mowing now, and it does an ok job at that. I picked up a Craftsman with a non-hst transmission - it does well for plowing & pulling.

    Diagnosing fail-to-crank - Craftsman GT-6000

Tractor is a Craftsman GT-6000, 917.257740 Battery reads 14.6v, but the tractor fails to crank by the ignition key. When I apply battery voltage to the starter solenoid trigger terminal (below), the starter turns the motor over, so I believe starter and solenoid are both ok. Based on this...

    LA145 K46 tranny is shot

Just a quick update on this in case anyone else has the same issue with the K-46 transmission. I wound up trying a rebuild service I found on ebay - seller link below. I've gotten two years of mowing duty out of this rebuild so far. https://www.ebay.com/usr/tthg-services

    Horizontal vs. vertical-shaft motors?

Is there a thread on here that compares horizontal-shaft vs. vertical-shaft motors? I've noticed some older tractors (incl Wheel Horse) with horizontal-shaft motors, and it sure looks like belt access is convenient for these, though it's possible that's just based on the belts that are easy to...
