    Need Help! ZTXS4 48

Update! When the deck was attached, the weight was enough to re-engage the deck pedal. I was able to lower the deck completely and wiggle the tool out. Now I know how to remove the deck, how to reattach the deck, and what not to do when I have the deck off. All in all, a good day. Much...

    Need Help! ZTXS4 48

Putting on the mulching kit. Everything smooth. Lowered deck all the way. Step 4(e) in picture. Stuck wrench into alignment holes to lock deck lift in place. Step 5. Got done with mulching kit. Ready to reinstall. For some unknown reason, I stepped on the deck pedal, bent the wrench, and...

    First Oil Change

Oh, I did my research. No offense taken! I wanted the small one cause I have a lot if nooks and crannies to get it into and out of, and the dealer suggested I stay with the 48 inch deck. A dealer that knows where you live and the terrain is worth his weight in gold. He had a chance to sell...

    First Oil Change

Getting ready to do my first oil change - after break-in period of 10 hours. I was able to find one quart of 10w-50 at TSC, and they ordered the other one I needed. They did have a kit that had two quarts of 10w-50, but it also came with a filter. I had bought an OEM filter at the previous...

    ZTXS4 48 Seat "Springs" Replacement

Update - i took a Dremel and cut the extra pair of springs to where they would be the same height as the OEM "springs" - problem solved. Now I will see the longevity of the rubber caps to see if I need to go back to the drawing board. The seat now latches!

    ZTXS4 48 Seat "Springs" Replacement

Here is the picture of the clampy thing and the latch. Sorry for the bad pictures. That latch hits just above the bracket behind the gas tank, shown in the last picture.

    ZTXS4 48 Seat "Springs" Replacement

There is a clampy-type thing that latches on the back of the seat, and you normally have to move the lever to release the clamp and allow the seat to lift. I will get a picture later when I get off work.

    ZTXS4 48 Seat "Springs" Replacement

If I cut the bottom, I need to find a bigger washer. If I cut the top, not sure that the cap thingie will still fit. But worth a try!

    ZTXS4 48 Seat "Springs" Replacement

I have an extra pair that I can test on. Maybe a good set of bolt cutters. Did not know if that would mess up the spring or change its bounceability. Not like it is going to unwind!

    ZTXS4 48 Seat "Springs" Replacement

Saw all the videos. Wanted to put the motorcycle springs under my seat. They look and feel amazing. Only problem - they are a smidgen too long and the seat does not lock. Normally not a big problem, until my East Tennessee rear end bounces once or twice and the pto shuts off. Suggestions?

    New 2024 Cub Cadet Ultima ZTXS5 54

I ordered these little hooded umbrella type keys (fishing plug not included) for about $6 for a pair to hopefully keep dust and dirt out of the key thingie. Brand new owner of a ZTXS4 48. Only mowed twice with it.
