If your machinist was able to source needed parts last time work was done why not have him source all the parts FIRST and then do machine work to match new parts? The guy I use won’t do it any other way and every snowmobile, car, tractor and several other engines came out perfect.

Looks like you over torqued them two weeks ago. The remedies or a combination of them suggested should work for you. Stuff like this is what mechanics not parts changers do.

With the problems you describe the first thing I would do is install new batteries in your smoke detectors!!!
