    Broken welds

I am surprised your tractor has a hard time lifting 500 lbs. off the ground. According to TractorData.com Kubota L3301 tractor attachments information it should be well over a 1000 lbs. I have a Kubota L3010 (abt 2002 vintage) that picks up over a 1000 lbs. with no problem. In fact I have...

    Broken welds

Okay, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. When I first read your comment it sounded like you are not supposed to turn your front wheels when in four wheel drive which obviously does not make sense. Of course I happen to have a Kubota and live on a side hill so run it in 4WD about 99% of the...

Kubota L48 loud. Quieter muffler options?

Before you spend too much $, try better hearing protection and you might also consider have your hearing checked. My brother-in-law who is now 80 has his hearing start getting sensitive about 15 to 20 years ago. Today we have to talk very softly to him, anything loud makes him put his hands...

    Tree cutting accident

We had a very nice and very old (150+ years based on rings we could count later) sugar maple not 30 ft from our back door. It was the center of attraction for both our children and all of their friends due to a swing from one of its branches high up. One nice summer morning long after...

Are diesel conditioners needed for new

Depends how cold it gets in the winter where you live. I'm in Vermont where it frequently gets below 10 above zero and frequently below zero in the winter. I definitely do not want gelling of the fuel so definitely use a diesel fuel conditioner. As for addition lubrication or whatever I don't...

    Looking for a log splitter

I have one also and it has split anything and everything I could throw at it including some very large gnarly maple pieces that I had to use a crowbar to move them into place. Also before I tilt it up into vertical position I fully extend the ram which helps balance the unit. After so many...

    skidding logs

For anyone interested just out of curiosity about how much a given log weighs I would refer you to this website - Wood Species - Moisture Content and Weight Several years ago I put a spreadsheet together when I was curios as to why I couldn't manhandle 16 inch long piece of an old sugar maple...

What could have caused this ???

I read years ago where a person (forest ranger I think) was hit by lightning on a nice sunny clear blue sky day. It was attributed to some thunder clouds over the mountain out of sight of the person. However I do like the idea of a UFO until proven otherwise. Makes sense until it doesn't.

    death of regular cab pickups

Just did a quick look at one of the major north east Ford dealers in Portsmouth, NH and they have a bunch of regular cabs either in stock or coming. My 2005 F150 reg. cab with 8 ft. box was great until the frame rusted out from under it. Had it welded three times and finally traded it in...

Keeping mice out of your tractors engine bay over the winter and summer too.

I have been using Cayenne Pepper. Sprinkle it around in areas where I can reach. So far it seems to work and I only have had to appy it a couple times a year. IN the fall I think is the most critical when the little critters are looking for good winter shelter and my tractor sits the longest...

    To upgrade or not

Upgrade and keep the 8n at least for a year or two. Years ago I had a Kubota B7200 (17 hp), (bought it 2nd hand with just under 500 hours on it) small but it did a lot of work that I couldn't have done otherwise. Eventually I ran low on jobs it could handle so upgraded to a 2nd hand Kubota...

Changing Fluid on Kubota L3010 Front Axle?

Thanks for responding. Due to the lapse in time I have already filled the axle and am not at home currently to check what I did use. I am afraid it was not what you recommended although I believe I bought it at the Kubota dealership and paid dearly for the gear oil I did use.

Changing Fluid on Kubota L3010 Front Axle?

Thanks for taking the time. Yes, it did help. So far so good. As soon as the weather warms up I will be checking all of my fluids again as I usually do quite often.

Changing Fluid on Kubota L3010 Front Axle?

I am a newbie to TractorByNet. I grew up on a farm long time ago but enjoy the work I can get done around my little 11 acre piece of paradise here in Vermont with a tractor. I own a 2003 Kubota L3010 that I use occasionally for things I couldn't do otherwise so it doesn't get the hours of a...
