I'd go with a compact (and did). A sub compact is basically a lawnmower with attachments. If ground clearance is a concern, I'd check what it is? Good luck

My Ls mt225s is all metal

I know it sounds stupid; but my Yanmar engine on my LS tractor did the same thing. It has 2 fill plugs. I unscrewed the cap on top, and heard a hiss. Apparently pressure had built up, and it would not turn over. It stated right away after I released the pressure.

P.S. I am very happy with the ls MT225s, and believe I can sell it in a couple years for nearly what I paid.

I got a LS mt2 25s with a backhoe because the 122 and 125 is like a large lawnmower with very little ground clearance. The front bucket on the 225 is rated over 1000 lbs. but seems a little weak. the backhoe is very strong for it's size.

Had one on my jcb1700 backhoe and have one on my LS mt225s. I use it all the time.

3 or 6 inch crushed stone. Screened round stones won't work. They need to be trap rock. I have a 6 foot drop from my driveway and in the spot where it washed out, I filled with 1.5 inch crushed stone, and it is working fine, and I am not far from southern VT (northern MA) just below Keene NH...
