I have a JD2440 that has an independent hydraulic pto. What is the advantage (or disadvantage) of this versus a live PTO? All I know about it is that both levers must be engaged for the pto to work.

I have a 2440 that has the independent hydraulic pto feature and I really don't understand it. I only know that both levers must be engaged for it to operate. Can someone explain to me the advantage(or disadvange) of it versus a live pto?
