We are back up and running and lifting... it seems to have been a combo of the filter, screen, improper fluid level ( lesson learned after draining and refilling) and control valve tweaking. Now can someone send some rain my way so that the grass will grow so i can cut it? Thank you all !!

Update: the new screen is in and it still does not lift the bush hog. Someone has mentioned a valve that is on the right hand side of the tractor that could be clogged. They said it is about as big as the end of your finger.. i cannot find such a valve. Any JD folks familiar with this ?

Yes the lift control and the draft control are next to each other.

that part it easy.. it is next to the position control lever. it is down/disabled.

now to figure out what where all that is... the manual is terrible.

Thank you all. I have ordered a new screen ( drove 40 minutes to get one and they didn't have the correct one), once it is here I will put it back together and refill. I am hoping that the combo of the screen and the fact that it was over filled will solve the issue. The dealer didn't seem so...

Got it. It was a 12. Called the dealer and the shop said that the paint will mess up the sizing - he was right. There is junk in my screen at the end. No idea what it is, possibly from an o-ring or other seal but nothing is obviously leaking. I am wondering if I should put it all back...

It seems to be between 12 and 13- one too small, one too big.

I am having a hard time finding a wrench to fit... anyone know what size this would be for the cap screws on the filter?

Thank you- it has been working fine for years, no issues. I have not used it over the winter and now have this issue. Nothing else to noted - other than a dead battery :)

I have a JD 5055D. The 3 point hitch will raise if not attached to anything. It will raise a 230 lb boyfriend :) but it will not raise my bush hog more than a couple inches off the ground. I have changed the hydraulic filter and added oil ( although i cannot see any change in the view...
