Ratchet Rake - better than a box blade for me

I have a 1 acre pond with a levy around it. Needless to say the levy got pretty messed up on the sides. Also, I had a lot of brush and trees cleared out by an excavator at the base of the levy for drainage. I am just now starting on the Levy. It looks like pushing forward is best for really bad...

Ratchet Rake - better than a box blade for me

I wanted to add that I did it by back dragging. However, I did not focus on just the ruts . I had so much damage. I just picked an area and marked the perimeter with my string trimmer . Then just dragged everything to form a line that was the quickest and easiest way. So if you have a nice Lawn...

Ratchet Rake - better than a box blade for me

Yes, I did it all by backdragging the ratchet rake with the small times pretty much at 90° angle to the ground. You have to put the bucket in float mode for it to work well. I had to make several passes, but it’s so easy because you can see what you’re doing. Sometimes I would go across the rut...

Ratchet Rake - better than a box blade for me

A tornado hit my property when all the trees were cleared, I was left with huge ruts from all the electrical trucks. I don’t have a box blade anymore, but decided to try grading with the ratchet rake. It worked terrifically well, at least for smoothing out those ruts. I am sure box blade...

Update: Tornado hit my camp in March of this year more than 60 large trees down. I can't tell you how happy I am with my grapple, 511 grill guard and backup mirror . This tractor with the JD hook and pin system allows me to change bucket to grapple in less than 10 minutes. The grill guard and...

Thanks for the tip. I always grease my other tractor, but I hated it. Greasing is the worst thing for me, but I will do it. Battery grease gun is going to be an absolute must have item

Yes, that front zerk is famous On YouTube for being difficult. I have a whole section of YouTube videos on greasing, especially the front zerk. I have not watched them all yet, but I will before my first grease job. Thanks

I am certain of one thing if mine is part of the recall, the dealer was not supposed to sell it to me. I had even asked if it was one of the recall machines and was told it was not on the list. I am going to check with John Deere tomorrow and confirm before I get to upset about it. What year is...

Mine is a 2018. I bought it from a dealer and supposedly it is not part of the recall at least that’s what I was told. I’m going to double check with John Deere directly tomorrow. According to the JD website it is part of the recall so I’m gonna get a clarification from John Deere tomorrow...

I am strongly considering a 511 grill guard after a post about a broken hood. Hate to spend 400 to 500 but might be worth it. I do pick up lots of limbs and brush. Thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I really don't pick up trees just limbs and brush. I hire some one with a skid steer for any large stuff. But I can see with back dragging and positioning you could break it.

I wanted to share on this site about my Tractor purchase . Everyone has been so helpful. I know I would not have been able to succeed without some of your comments. I am totally pleased so far, Hope this helps someone else. I had very specific requirements to replace my 45 horsepower ,gear...

    Add a grapple

Never even thought of that . With my operator skills I am certain the front end of my tractor would look like a shish kabob with out added protection Thanks

    Add a grapple

I want to thank everyone for taking the time to post the great pic's and all the great info. This has really helped. I am mechanically challenged and over 65 so I know that I will either buy a tractor with a third function on it or have a dealer install one. I am going to have the SSQA had a pin...

    Add a grapple

I sold my large tractor last year. I know I am going to buy a smaller 4 wheel drive FEL and backhoe combination this year. I am determined that I will never again buy a tractor without a third function. A bucket grapple seems the only logical solution. I spend about 1/2 my time digging and...
