Why do you think the power steering failed? Is it under warranty?
Warranty is long over with. Last winter it felt like it was giving out and the dealership didn't stock the part, so I bought it. Was costly.

Dearest though the roof should be cleared so she got into that job. My wrists no longer function right for me to do this type of work. There was enough up there that the weather vane was stuck but she got it cleared as well. In the third photo, the solar panel is the bump between the chimney and weather vane. It again worked when she was done! It hadn't worked in weeks. More pics to follow.

Not living in an area of the country that gets a lot of snow, I'm curious how much insulation the snow gives you? Did you notice any difference in heating with the snow off of the roof?

Roofs are not normally insulated but attics (ceiling) are. The snow is coming off the roofs because of snow load.

We pushed snow up against the cabin base to keep cold air from flowing under the cabin. Like most cabins here, the floors are not insulated. Afterwards we felt it had warmed the cabin in just a few hours. That days high was about 6.

Packing for camp today which is difficult since dearest doesn't know when she'll get away. If late, we won't go tonight. Has been snowing here and suppose to pic up, as the day does. ATV deposit was paid and we await parts from Canada. Pic from the last time out. How does one get away without a snow blade?

Good luck Arly. It got cold and the wind picked up today in Northern Michigan. Just came in from using the backpack blower to clear the cement pad in front of garage.

Have fun, the wind here is so strong that branches are flying everywhere, and it is 40F now going to 24.
Probably a bit colder by your camp.
All our snow is now melted.

At camp with 2 fires going and was 10 for the drive out. Nice dusting of new snow here, maybe 3" and the resident moose had been hanging out on the road. Noaa says tonight's low is 7. Nice to be back at camp.

Good morning camp fans. Just getting light here and the snow n woods is gorgeous. More Good news is it warmed overnight to 13, bad part is the wind is starting up. The fellow who's buying the Kodiak is driving up to get it this morning but when the parts arrive for the new one, is a open question. Our goal was to not be hauling machines around so much.

It's really blowing and drifting over my main access road in this neck of the woods.

It snowed here late yesterday but a insignificant amount. Calm this morning and a bit more fell overnight.

The fellow who Purchased our atv yesterday is a retired electrician who's installing solar panels and might be interested in doing one for us.

We plan on a more casual day at camp :) today.

That snow can get quite heavy. The structural risk outweighs (sorry for the pun) any insulation value.

The snow does insulate from the cold (that's why igloos work), but you'd have to design a structure to handle it. I'm guessing the cost/benefit doesn't work. Cheaper to build a well-insulated structure. Besides, snow isn't dependable.

These pics of Upper Wisconsin look great.

I miss the snow from about Dec 15- Jan 16. It's may hit 80 here on Christmas Day.
