I tried that once. Pipe shattered in a couple hundred feet. I've got some steel pipe to weld some mounting tabs on. Never gotten around to it as I either wait until it's frozen solid underneath or can keep the blade raised enough if it's soft underneath. That would last me 1 plowing, between the crushed stone and blacktop on the driveway. If I did install one, I'd use bungee cords for ease of replacement, salt and steel threads are enemies.
That white pvc will shatter you need the black,it’s more flexibleI'd just drill a hole here on both sides and run a bungee up to the top ...View attachment 4319449
That way if you have a section you want to use the metal blade on, it's easy to remove.
Yup you’re right I’ve had good luck with the abs after trying the pvcPVC gets brittle when near freezing, it will shatter the first use. You need to use black ABS pipe.
It's also hard to keep on the edge. I cut a slot in galvanized pipe, beat the ABS pipe over it, then anchored the metal pipe at each edge.
I'll try to post pics after I find all the parts for this winter.
I have been using 2" PVC - 54" rear blower (on JD 850) - for 9 years. It does have shoes.I've got the 1-1/2" PVC pipe installed, I don't trust it to stay on.
Should I drill thru 4-5 places across the blade and install 1/4" bolts & washers?
I hope the pics show enough detail, got dark fast.

If you just turn the blade around backwards, it will work fine and you won’t have to mess with contraptions.I suspect the PVC will not last too long. When it breaks I'll try black ABS. Maybe make a pair of shoes for the blade. I don't understand the flat bars or plastic flat stock laying flat, seems like that would dig in similar to the blade cutting edge? If all goes well, we won't get much snow again this winter and I'll only have to plow 1-2 times
