Does not feel cooler than yesterday and very humid too. Went on another adventure with the excavator looking for logs to use for firewood that are dry enough to burn and found a few and hauled them up in the open to get access to cut and split.
Started to dig out a rock that had bothered me but quickly realized that it was a huge rock too big to move. Covered it up again. They are like icebergs hidden underneath
Ventured out on a steep slope and used the bucket to level up the excavator and push it out. A few tense moments and fastened the seat belt just in case

What I have done many times on the really large rocks is to dig a good deep hole right next to it then roll it into the big hole to get the top down further.

67.1F and mostly cloudy @ 20:00, all the rain has moved off to the south.

We ended up with around 1.5” total today.

Got recruited into KP duty prepping the ingredients for ham and bean soup first thing.

Once I got that in the crockpot and cooking, I started on prepping the summer squash for the freezer.

Got 6 lbs sliced, blanched, cooled, and vacuum-sealed in 1 lb bags. Was almost all yellow squash except for one bag which was a mix of yellow and zucchini. Cut up some onions and put some of that in the bags as well.

Also shredded 2 lbs of zucchini for zucchini bread and bagged and sealed that in 1 lb bags.

Ran down to the vegetable market just before they closed and picked up a head of lettuce and a bunch of fresh dill for the pickles.

Also picked up a loaf of brown “Breakfast Bread” from Ideal Bakery that they carry that has all sorts of goodies in it.

Woman toasted a piece and approves …

She made cornbread to go with the soup.

Doe and 3 white spot fawns came through earlier in the day and limited themselves to browsing the hosta mostly.

Stayed out of the garden at any rate.

There were 3 or 4 does and 7 white spot fawns out around the bird feeders the other day.

Might take a stab at the pickles later.

Enjoy your evening.
Check out squash bread with lemon frosting. Wife uses our squash to make it. Quite tasty. And it freezes well.

Good morning TBN!!!
70 this morning going to low 90s. No rain yesterday but a wider spread chance this afternoon.

Happened to be on CL looking at "stuff" Man advertised a 6ft Ford scrape blade for $175. Called him drove about 45 minutes and picked it up. About 1/2 the price of what I usually see. First CL buy for me and I am pleased. Also picked up 2 oil change fluid catch for my lift. One with a very nice 35 gal barrel. Both brand new. $100. Now I'll probably be a CL junkie  :giggle:
No plan today really. I may start getting the plasma and genny loaded up to cut on old tank on Sat. High of 80 will make it much more doable.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!!
I’d sell my old blade for that, and an old cultivar. I got a ton of stuff I need to get rid of.

Spent couple hrs reading over some just released info. Wow, and that’s all I’ll say.

Saw an interesting lot up in PA in an area I love, but overpriced. Got us talking again about getting out of MD, as it is so expensive here, especially taxes. Just don’t think I want to start over with building. I told my wife I’d have to find a builder if we did it. I think MD is bad, but building in PA looks to be more cumbersome. This is still close enough to still hang with our same friends.

Been sitting on porch, got smoky lying on me, the latest stray to hang around.

Morning fellas, 73° while out walking the pooch.

Helped a third party welder chase a crack i had on a fuel tank. We finally got that fixed.

Now chilling in my office waiting for some software to update on my diesel laptop.

Then I'm fixing to trigger a forced regen on a 300hp diesel i got out in the yard.

Then lunch, and hopefully nothing dramatic happens at work since it is a Friday.

Supposed to be mid 80's today. That's a nice change from the 100°+ it's been the past couple weeks.

Supposed to be mid 80's through the weekend, then get hot again.

Maybe I can get some brush hogging and scrub put on the burn piles tomorrow.

Hair cut though first thing tomorrow morning. I'm starting to resemble a chia pet

Thank you for the thought

She copes the best she can and the pains are always there but gets worse in periods where it is debilitating. We celebrate when there is a little relief for her and hope it will last a while
Good morning m7040, hoping everything is well with you and yours.
I have the same tractor, and factory 3rd function is a mystery to me, tried to use it and seems like something is not active, no 3 point control or front hydraulics tractor is new to me and in really nice shape, but I can not run the front mower and figure I must be missing something, valve not active? do hydraulic hoses need to be swapped around? I am not seeing anything.
sorry to jump in this thread to ask but I have not figured this out yet, and it looked like your tractor was the same. Do you have any words of wisdom?

71.2F and sunny with a strong breeze @ 11:15. Calling for a high of 78F for the day.

Coffee tasting good.

Some bill paying on the menu first thing today.

Then probably have a look out in the garden and see what’s lurking out there.

With all the rain we’ve been getting it’s been kind of getting neglected … no need to water, just let it grow.

Have some sort of blight issue on at least one of the Straight 8 cucumber plants so need to do a heavy pruning there.

Probably some pruning on tomato plants as well.

Need to empty the Sevin out of the garden sprayer and wash it out.

Once that’s done I may mix up some epsom salt solution and give the tomatoes a foliar feeding.

Chances of rain look pretty slim until next Thursday … so probably figure on doing some watering/feeding in about 4 or 5 days.

Still need to refill that one suet feeder, the other one might be ready by now as well.

Finish up mowing on the compost/woodlot.

Haul that last dead ash tree up and get it out of the way of planting the last couple of arbs.

Other than that just see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent TGIF.

Check out squash bread with lemon frosting. Wife uses our squash to make it. Quite tasty. And it freezes well.

Will have to give that one a try …

The Woman will be game I’m sure as She likes lemon.

Me not so much … although Mom used to make a yellow cake with lemon frosting which I loved.

Thanks !

After hearing back from the realtor in PA, won’t be pursuing the lot. Was overpriced anyways. They require SWM pond per lot, have to give township permission to inspect, building restrictions are ok, no existing well. Not worth the hassle.
Not sure if SWM rules are per township or county.
