Phil, sorry you lost your old friend.

dropped lettuce off to several houses, then had breakfast at small restaurant in New Hope, one owned by
my old employee and catered to by locals. Old chief of police was there, we yakked a while, he was the one chasing me while
a rookie cop in 1966 when I flipped my car. Thankfully never did that again.

lawn is mowed, plants watered, not much planned for today

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! 86° going to Hotter-than-the-sun° (99°) sunny, hazy, and dry.

Finished mowing Friday after work before the heat came down. Saturday helped mom try to beat back the Bishop's weed that's invaded the front garden bed. So far it's been tried weeding, weed eating, herbicides, and now we're going one step below a flamethrower. Covering with cardboard and burying with mulch. So I shuttled a few bucket loads of mulch for her, helped spread. Accidently disturbed a very perturbed toad who had found his cool damp spot to ride out the heat. Put him into the ferns where he can find a new cool spot and happily munch on all the bugs.

Looked at some new land on Sunday a county over. They're asking a bit much for it, but it has some potential. I'll decide how interested I should be once I see the tax map.

Boss is back after his trips, we're behind but not by much. Here's hoping all the insanity is over with work and we settle into a slower pace for the remainder of the summer.

Nothing really on the agenda this week, just staying cool and getting through the work week.

Phil, sorry for the loss of your friend, prayers for you.
Buppies, hope the new nurse works out, there's two types of nurses: those in it for the money and those who really want to help people. Here's hoping you get the latter.

All not specified y'all stay safe out there! Lots of water and fluids, shade and A/C! Get the heavy outside chores done in the morning or evening, if it can wait, let it wait!
Prayers for those ailing and recovering!

Morning all, 85 going to 98 and sunny.

Yesterday was pretty calm until we got back from dog walk.

Son called, he got into an accident. He hit a car that hit another car.
The jeep took it pretty well, the middle car was totaled.
But everyone was ok, drove over and talked to the police, he will get a no point citation and this will I am sure ding my insurance up, but happy everyone was fine and talked to both drivers.

Sorry about friend Phil

Did a lot of throwing stuff out, 3 or 4 bags, good to clean some of this old junk out.

Still lots of closed roads and blocked lanes around here. Passed by some down wires yesterday that are hopefully being worked on today. Still plenty of trees in the road around here.

Still need to clean up firepit and fill it. and about 100 other small jobs, will see how much I can get done after work with this heat. We did have rain yesterday and lightning nothing on WU until after the storm started

Will need to follow up with insurance, already filled in claim, have police report number etc.

Be well,

Morning all;
Hot, Hazy and Humid.
Feels like East Texas :(
82 F and 82% humidity at 9 AM already, at 6 AM it was 72F and 75% humidity.
Yesterday I put a few water cuts in the driveway in case we get a hard thunder storm.
Glad the little Kioti has good AC, the windows built up condensation on the outside of the cab.
Then this morning I went down at 6 AM to remove the main beam on my ditch bank mower that I messed up Saturday by forgetting to pull the transport/safety pins. At 6 the sliding door in the living room had condensation on the outside of it, running the tractor while disassembling the mower beam it covered the windows with condensate. I was back inside and cooling down by 8:30, lots of cool water and OJ, then breakfast and now on here.
Damaged main beam 1.jpg
Damaged main beam 2.jpg

time to order some steel and make the front look more like the back, nice and straight and square.
Damaged main beam 3.jpg

The power of hydraulics.

Then I had to order springs for our dishwasher door Sunday also as it broke and the door tries to flop down now. At least that little repair will be in the AC, that will be important this week.

All stay cool and safe

Wrote this post last night but didn’t hit the post button:

80F and sultry @ 11:30, only heading down to around 74F for the overnight low.

Mixed up another gallon of copper fungicide for the peach trees while I was watching the meatloaf.

Temp in the garage - where the overhead door had not been opened - was about 10 degrees cooler than the outside air temp.

Left the man door between kitchen and garage open for around 1/2 hour, dropped the temp in the garage another couple of degrees.

Could really feel the heat and humidity coming into the kitchen though.

Got meatloaf out of the oven on time, I thought it looked about right, Woman thought it was a little too browned.

Helped bring in groceries after She got back.

She started fixing the sides and I noticed there was a groundhog out back so I snuck back to the bedroom to try and get a shot off.

Didn’t happen the groundhog alerted before I got the window opened and dived back into its burrow.

Got another opportunity later though.

Had mashed potatoes and brown gravy plus asparagus. Very tasty.

Woman headed outside after dinner to sit for a bit and I was about to head in that direction myself when I noticed the groundhog was back out.

Managed to get a shot off and may have hit it … but it managed to get back to the burrow.

After that I headed outside and reloaded the sprayer and got both peach trees sprayed with fungicide.

Once that was done I hooked up the Water Buffalo and collected up some 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer.

Watered the 2 Redbud trees, day lily ring around a Redbud, 4 hosta rings around other trees in back, and the hosta bed at the southwest corner of the house.

Power went off while I was doing that so headed inside to shut off computers and ups’s.

By that time the sun had sunk low enough that the front yard was in shade so I headed up there and watered and fed the little peach tree, the Japanese ornamental, the red maple, and ginkgo tree, emptying out the Buffalo.

Ginkgo tree is now over 7’ tall:

Took the Buffalo around back and dropped it off to be refilled.

Then went up and hooked up the dump cart and stuck the other glyphosate sprayer in it and went around and hit a few more spots.

Nearby LWS on WU is reporting that it's already 92F @ 10:45 ... which seems high (and unlikely)

Calling for a high of 93F for the day.

Think it's going to be a fairly low-key day here for me, with most activities limited to indoors.

Grass down here around the house does need mowed but if I do eventually tackle that I'll wait until late in the day to do it when there is lots of shade.

I do need to go out and water plants on shelves out back, may move some of the larger ones out there down to the second shelf so that they are in shade.

Maybe bring in a couple of the largest ones (Casper pumpkins) and move them into larger pots so they don't dry out as quickly.

And take down some of the ones in the greenhouse so they can harden off.

The ground here has remained fairly moist with all the rain we got recently.

Still, I might venture out there for short periods and do some watering in the garden. I'm sure the plants would appreciate it.

Probably juice them up with some of that Schultz's "Tomato Food" 17-18-28 fertilizer.

Numerous blossoms have begun to appear on the indeterminate tomatoes that were planted along the straight trellis.

Getting a hole drilled in the bottom of that umbrella pole would be a good indoor task ... after I mark it.

Refill the one glyphosate sprayer.

I did make up a bucket of seed to refill the hopper feeder so there's that.

And need to seal up the flue pipe from the wood stove now that I picked a tube of sealant.

Other than that, have some bills to schedule for payment.

Also today is trash/recycle day ... so will need to run those up to the cans at the road at some point.

Beyond that, just see what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Monday ...
