Good Morning!!!! 59F @ 8:45AM. Generally cloudy. High 62F. Winds SE at 5 to 10 mph.

Pretty neat ice crystal, Kyle. Another wonder of nature!
Finished installing my air/hyd bottle jack in the 20 ton press and so far I am pleased.
Sounds really nice. How 'bout a photo? Got a press here that still uses low and high stage hand pumps, and the handles stick out at just the right height to murder knee caps. It's ripe for conversion, but I'm very interested to see how you mounted the bottle jack. Did yours come with a foot control?
How do states come up with these weird laws?
Do the people that write them live only in town houses?
Yes, and why do they keep changing them? We used to have Fire Hazard Reduction Burning with no time limits and no size limits on the pile. Now we are required to get permits for early and late season burns, and they've put limits on the hours and size. I still have a big pile, but now have to feed a smaller fire using the tractor and grapple. I'm OK with that because some of those piles were so big I had to use a hose to keep the flames from throwing embers all over the place.

Didn't get much sleep night before last; finally just gave up and was on the road north by 6:15. Ran my errands on the way in, but forgot to hit the Post Office. First thing I noticed when I got here was a smoke detector chirping. It was the same deal as last time, but a different detector, so I should have changed all the batteries, so I did. While I was unloading the van I saw that the door to the pump house was hanging by one hinge at a crazy angle. Must have been a heck of a storm while I was away. Then I noticed water trickling out of the top of the 1200 gallon storage tank. Reached in and depressed the float valve a couple times and got it to reseat.

Firewood stack in the garage was getting low, so I filled up the side-by-side with drier pieces from another stack that was bucked but not split, so I had to be a little choosy to find pieces that would fit in the wood stove. The tarp over that pile is also full of holes, so I also left the wet ones. That tarp is one of those recycled billboard tarps, and this is the third year for it. It's really stiff and fragile, and I'd be splitting it and refilling pallets this summer if I wasn't selling this place.

Filled up the side-by-side again with odd scraps of lumber to make a campfire, and invited a neighbor down to share a bottle of wine. He's my body shop buddy, and finally got a job at a shop that specializes in custom and street rod cars, something he has a bit of passion for. He was doing collision work before, and hating life. The money isn't as good, but money can't buy happiness. We ran out of wine about the same time we ran out of wood, and the sky was spitting rain anyway. Still a nice way to end a long day.

It's still raining out, so I'll putter on some inside jobs and get some tidying up done in preparation for meeting with a realtor tomorrow.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your weekends!

Good morning TBN!!
23 this morning w/high in the mid 50s under sun.
Finished installing my air/hyd bottle jack in the 20 ton press and so far I am pleased. Squeezed and squished a couple of things to test. Time will tell now.
Started to set up the solar panel for the Blink cam. Finally got the correct one after three time. Have to charge it before use so will revisit again today.
Going to try and clean up tools from the various projects I have been working on.
Probably mostly R&R for the day.

Time for a second cup
Everyone have a great and safe day!!
I keep toying with the idea of adding the air jack as well, usually when using the press.

No foot pedal but still pretty good control. Use hand or air. I had to drill and tap the base

I have the same press. Except my jack is gray. Works good. On small projects I use the hand arm. Sure is a lot easier to use with air.

After my trouble looking below my engine yesterday, looking for a good endoscope, that has it's own monitor that can record. Don't want one to connect to phone. Any recommendations?

25 deg this morning, hit 50deg today, now 47 deg.
good worship, good lunch, although i kind of wish I had ordered something different.

Hot in the room with the stove on low.
Gotta teach again tonight. 45 min class goes by fast.

Plowing all done, fired up at 11:15 and started plowing at 11:45. Finished at 15:30 hrs. Fueled and fluids checked.
They are calling for freezing rain and rain tonight and tomorrow. Pushed the driveway back 10' feet on the west side and 20' back on the east. My snowbanks are getting up there.

Good Afternoon,
Bill, that’s a serious pile of snow !

Paul, I was curious about those change gears on your lathe the other day. Were you trying to get a specific thread size on the lathe that you couldn’t get with the gears that you had ? Glad they had the gear that you needed !

Warm day here, lots of melting, I saw a high of 43 before it went the other way ! Got both my truck and Kathleen’s car cleaned up a bit ! I’m sure it will get dirty on Thursday when we head to Vermont but at least it’s clean now !

Hope all had a good day ! 🙏

I know you usually have to switch a gear to go from metric to imperial on many lathes. Some have a double gear that you can take off and turn around and adjust the fitment.

Since I do so little press work, my main likes on presses are having a gage, and having the low/high 2 pump handles. It is nice to have the cable pulley system to raise/lower the work rest area. my main press uses are pressing out bearings, and straightening shafts.

Good (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 13.3C and it's presently 24.8C, clear & fairly calm. There was 3.0mm in the gauge from yesterday morning.

Well, this morning I finally gave up 'chewing' on one side of my mouth and called the Dentist's office. Good news is that I can be seen this arvo @ 1350 to assess the situation. I'm not in any pain, per se, only when downward pressure from a wee bit of food occurs on one particular tooth. <sigh>

That's about it, take care all.
