Burned EVs a huge problem !
Another clueless media hack writing to a sensationalist headline.

"The media emphasize that it takes significantly more water to extinguish a lithium-ion battery than a conventional vehicle fire."

No amount of water will extinguish a lithium-ion fire.

All while crying "EVs bad!" the clueless hack ignores the California mandate on new PV solar installations to have battery storage. Ignores how PV solar is essentially mandatory in the burned regions.

Most 'professional' journalists today remind me of used car salesmen. IOW, not professional at all, just hucksters peddling opinions and not much more.

I bever buy into that crap but I take it with a large grain of salt instead.

In reality that is what is wrong with us today, that is people buy into those falsehoods, hook, line and sinker. They don't stop to analyze the article for what it's worth, which in this case is nothing.

Just looked at the 2025 Silverado 1500 EV and the 2025 Equinox EV at the Fort Worth Stock Show. Nice vehicles. Wife liked the Equinox, actually roomier and nicer than her Cadillac XT6. National Chevrolet sales rep did say that EVs weren't ideal
for road trips but can do them, just more stops than an ICE vehicle. Really excel for around the town trips where you charge at home.

Yep
I would probably add Accel to excel as well for the Model Y when it is needed.

Good friend has a Fords F series pickup truck that is a hybrid and he likes it. Battery is behind the back seat (4 door). Eco Boost engine drives a generator that powers a motor that drives a conventional drivetrain (I think at least). He told me his average MPG is low 20's which I don't think is all that good actually. It's 4 wheel drive btw.

The thing that I would be concerned about with any EV with an ICE engine (not a pure plug in) is the complexity of the powertrain and the failure rate and the repair cost to fix it because ultimately it will require repairs once the OEM warranty is expired. When you mix power sources they get extremely complex, least in my view they do, which is why if I ever considered an alternate powered vehicle, it would have to be a plug in EV with one power train. Mixed powertrain EV's sound nice, but in reality when they fail (and eventually they will), repair costs could be astronomical and I'm not a buy or lease and sell off at low mileage. I keep my vehicles a long time and actually wear them out. Case in point is my 1997 F350 Ford truck. I'll have it until I can np longer safely drive. It gets carefully maintained and it's not that expensive to maintain either. The new stuff will be costly to maintain, a given.

Same applies to my Ford Focus RS. Insurance is cheap as well as necessary replacement parts and being fully paid for and no payment (like my truck) is a huge bonus. I'd rather spend my money on replacement parts that making a car payment anytime.

I don't believe so, the electric motor is sandwiched between the engine and transmission.
