More domestic stuff on order. May make a beer run today. Just because.

Well, it has gone from bad to worse here. Chilly but warming quickly if we get any sun. Still too cold to put up cameras and I'm still waiting for some small hardware items to finish the network.

PopG, that bio stuff just cost me $92.oo. But it is cheaper than 10 grand so all is good.

Good morning, the low is 18 and going to a high of 28°F. Wind S 14 mph. Snow, about 1.5" to add to the inch we got yesterday. For sure I will be plowing on Saturday afternoon.

rip, what are you doing with the electrics??? Are you heating with electric? Lighting up the neighbourhood? Supplying the neighbours with electricity, too?

PopG, I had a conversation with my supplier to see if the refinery or supplier put anything in the oil before it gets to me. NO was the answer. He also didn't recommend a biocide, in fact he was totally against it. But he did say that once the oil leaves their truck it is mine and my business what I did with/to it. In fact he said in the 15 years he has been selling oil he had NEVER had a customer ask about biocide. The stuff is ordered and paid for so like the bottle of HEAT that I bought 12 years ago, this will sit on my shelf until such a time as I need it. I will be putting a filter or two in the line this Spring. The first filter will be water separating. My suction line for the pump is about 4" off the bottom of the tank.

Time to get on with my exploring the youtube rabbit hole.

Good morning TBN!!
18* this morning with a very light breeze. Calling for the low 50s for the next couple of days before the rain moves in for the weekend. I can deal with that. Calling for very cold next week.
Spent most of the day puttering and entertaining the dog. Spent an hour looking for a fitting I know I have. Put it in a special place I wouldn't forget. Need to change the shower head in garage shower which doesn't get used anymore to a garden hose connection for dog wash station. Guess I'll buy one. That way it will turn up.
General puttering and some 4 wheeler riding.
Maybe the same today. Lots to do but plenty of time to do it.

Good Morning
16° with a high in the upper 20’s forecast.

Yesterday’s training went well. The students were very complimentary of the experience. We made one long day of it, had lunch delivered, and never really took an extended break, just enough to stretch our legs, get a drink or use the bathroom.
So I’ve got today free to figure out the plasma cutter, except that I just got a no heat service call, so I guess that will jump to the top of the list.
Still need to get breakfast before I head out, and clean out the fireplace and reload it for tonight’s fire.

So far I’m very happy with the old folks home. It’s one level, all 36” sliding barn doors with a large curb less shower. Essentially, all ready for us as we grow old and feeble.

Our electric bills get to $600 at the worst, but that’s for the house, old folks home, shop and barn. The house and shop use electricity for heat (geothermal heat pump in the house, high efficiency air/air heat pump in the shop). The old folks home is propane radiant floor, but has a heat pump for AC and spring/fall heat. No heat in the barn, just heated waterers. All the buildings are very tight construction with urethane spray foam insulation, which has proved to be an excellent investment.

Cleaned out the wood stove and shined up the glass door using cold ashes. Works like a charm with a little ash on a wet piece of kitchen towel. Fire is going strong using start up rolls of newspaper and smaller pieces of wood. Big log is about to go on next
Last month power bill for house and barn was 120 dollars and that is higher than in the past because of using the mini split. Using some oil off an on as needed more than we normally do

Prepared some scrimp dishes taken care not to over boil them and dunk them in ice to stop cooking. They were delicious

Good Morning from Central Texas.
5am 38 degrees. Headed to mid 60's until early next week, then around 40 for a high with a chance of snow ?
Installed (3) X-Sense Smoke / Carbon Monoxide Detectors (Amazon sale) after a family member had a serious issue in their home. Upon hearing this and mentioning to a couple friends, then heard more stories about people having issues ! So, since my smoke alarms were 10+ years old and kaput anyway.... They seem to be quality units and much cheaper than the Kiddie units which were $$$$.

I decided a couple years ago to join the American Legion. All in all it was a good decision, but our Post is fading fast. Cannot seem to get new membership. Too many "super old" guys and no new blood. Cannot figure out how to attract new members and it is sad to think that the post may have to close in the not too distant future.

Did not get anything done outside of day job yesterday and a few dog walks.

Bit cold for me with the wind yesterday, maybe will get out there today.

More paperwork today too. Always not fun.
