Good Morning
29° and mostly clear, high of 38 is predicted.
Yesterday’s pancakes and snow removal went as planned.
Except for the part where I went into the shop to get the tractor and it was 10° colder than the thermostat was set for.
So after parking the tractor, I looked into that. First issue was that the 24v transformer broke its mount, and fell to the bottom of the furnace disconnecting itself. The real problem was that something happened to the blower wheel, causing a vibration.
I put it on a shaft and mounted it on the motorcycle wheel static balancer, and added some screws and washers for static balance. I didn’t have a lot of hope for that, because there was nothing obvious like a missing weight that would point to a cause. And I was right, it was some kind of dynamic issue with the wheel, possibly a crack in the laminated disc in the center that mounts the hub, and in a center lamination, not visible. I put in a wheel scavenged from my buddies scrap pile that was the right diameter, but an inch narrower. It’s running smooth and quietly now until the OEM replacement gets here.
Next up was drilling the welding table, which went far better than I expected. I’m extremely pleased with the Chinese mag drill.
Here ‘s a slug that the annular cutter leaves.
That pretty well killed the day by the time I cleaned up and pint all the tools away from the day’s activities. So it was off to dinner with the family, too late to sit in front of a fire, so we just went to bed. There was a big walk-in sized fire place at the restaurant with a fire (admittedly gas logs), but it served the purpose.
Now I’ve got to figure out what to get into today.
