The low is 31 and going up to 32°F. Wind N 8 mph. Snow! Supposed to snow all day today and tonight. Started snowing last night. So far an inch, but that will change. By the time it is over we should have about 3.5 to 4" on the ground.
Block heater turned on. I'll go out about 9 or so and plow.
We've got a roast for todays celebratory meal.
I hope 2025 is a better year for all of us.

good morning all and happy new year.
44 degrees, pretty much high of day. Ten day forecast is all under freezing, brrrrrr.
quite a thunderstorm came through last night, about half an inch of rain and it pelted against the
windows with lightning flashing.
then at midnight crazy neighbor next door set off firecrackers, that was ok.
I called Landis Fence yesterday and put in order for 32 feet of fencing, so I don't need to deal with my problem
neighbor. I thought it would cost a thousand dollars. Nope, two thousand, from two quotes. Geez.
if I didn't need a zoning permit for this, I'd do it myself and borrow my friend's Kubota and post hole digger.
Scallop top solid cedar fence with 4x4s set in concrete.
maybe sometimes it's just better to write a check....wasn't sure the Kubota would fit in the tight spot needed.
These guys bring a little track loader with a hydraulic auger out front, goes anywhere.
it's been an expensive year, first the rv road trip, then coming home to new garden shed, and now the fence.
but I'm only going around once...and I've already had my wake up call.
I called off looking for new car/truck. Just not motivated to spend 80 grand on something that should cost 65.
Though I see Jeep is now discounting up to 15k off some models, they still have 2023 models left over.
no plans for today other than picking up friend at Philly airport, she is coming back from Mexico and family vacation with her two
daughters. Shouldn't be too much traffic today. Headed down there this afternoon

42 breezy most of the day. Next week high in 20s heating bills will be unreal I’m sure. As usual went to bed before midnight. Happy New Year to all hope it’s better than last year.
Drew we are living in the past how about a new paver 2014 $129000 now $320000 just sign of the times I guess. First house $38000 same house today $350000 it’s unreal to me.

46 outside this AM, heading to 50 and not much more. Dry day ahead.
2024 went out with a lot of bangs last night. Wow. Major t-Storm rolled through the area. Lots of lightening strikes and thunder. Guess someone wanted a clean slate for the area for this year. Impressive display.

Lou and Scotty, looks like you had a good day. Lou, I would definitely stop by your nephew's farm to buy meat if I lived nearby.
Made my last dump run of the year and fill-up of the truck, and then took Della for a long walk.
We got a pretty serious thunderstorm at sunset. Had friends over for an early New Year's and they live about 5 miles west and had hail there. Other friends arrived late, too, understandably waiting for the storm to pass.
We all celebrated New Year's in London since it was 7pm here. The ladies wanted to toast each hour as New Year's arrived somewhere new, like Rio, Labrador, etc. I've never seen so many hors d'oeuvres...my wife made so many and guests brought some, too. One man had bought fresh clams, minced them and mixed with stuffing, then baked them in the clam shell...big hit.
We usually do a First Day Hike so I need to find a trail somewhat shielded from the predicted wind...my original spot has 47mph gusts forecasted. Too bad the "Grand Canyon of the East" is all the way over to the Virginia/Kentucky border...would be nice to get down there.
