Today was another pretty decent day out so I decided to mill up some cherry logs for a guy. This one needed some trimming, so I got that done and then got started milling it,

Once I took the boards off, I put them on the pallet forks and then trimmed them to "pretty them up" a bit,

I kept the short cut-offs to use around here, mostly to make toys for my grandson. Anyway, most of the boards had really good color and good figure in them,

There's some really nice cherry lumber in that pile,

Since I asked for the house pics, I'll help get back on track also.

Set up a new log-splitting arena for this season, more room to work and shuffle bins, and doesn't block anything in front of my garage like I used to.

And finally got my some help from father-in-law and my kid. Aiming to fill my final 8 or 9 IBC totes (next winter's wood), then stack them all up under the carport.

Not nearly as old, but here's the 1860s Pennsylvania (poconos) stone farmhouse that I grew up in until 1998 when my parents moved us out to Michigan. Was also added-onto multiple times, not quite in the same grandeur though, lol. Because we only lived here on weekends/holidays/summers (NYC by week for work/school) we'd have to fire up the woodstove first thing upon arrival from Sept-May and all huddle around it until the propane furnace ran for a few hours to heat the rest of the house.

For a few years this method worked well enough. 10 cord that year. Block and tackle and a rafting dog did the heavy lifting.

My last shed build was 2016 at our old house, so 8 short years ago.

12'x16' floor, double layer of 3/4 inch tongue and groove pressure treated plywood floor. Built it to store my dune buggy and I didn't want any issues!

Just the cost for the 12 sheets of that plywood today would be over $1000 including tax...about what it cost to build the entire shed 8 years ago.

It was "split wood day" today, we would cut a while on this pile,

There's a BIG advantage having the splits falling off the end of the table grate, you can really get going not having to handle them just to get them on the ground or on a pile.

and then split what we had cut, we cut and split a pretty good amount today,

We still have this pile to do,

and these too,

but that's for another day!

New back saver helping out, more clearing/cleanup for a future shop area.
