First off, I’d like to thank Peter for the inspirational support along with others. This resurrection journey will be a labor of love.
Good news so far, here's the video of the first start in like forever(once I figure out how to attach it). All I was gonna do is turn it over and circulate the oils. She busted right off! What a blessing!!!! Didn’t have to bleed the diesel!!!! Now granted the fuel filters and whatnot need to be changed, it’s a start….literally! Now to budget for tires and more oils, filters, and I’m gonna go ahead and replace all fuel hoses and obviously the battery.

I've had great success with creating a youtube account, posting the videos there, and then linking here.

Great news on the first start!

Just an FYI, the Power tracs have an unusually low hour change interval for the hydraulic filter (at least in my opinion). They mandate a 50 hour filter change. With the used machines I have seen, it is often neglected. (If you worked it 40 hours a week, that would require a hyd oil filter change just over every 6 days!)

Yes, I think that the low hour change interval comes of not having other filtration in the circuits for most of the machines. The suction filter isn't particularly fine, and if it were to collapse, the drive pump would probably not be in good shape...

All the best,

Peter

So I was reading the mod posts, and I saw where nobody has tried to convert/modify the forward/reverse mechanism. I’m used to Caterpillar loaders. With that, while doing this project, I’m gonna see if I can modify it somehow and have a normal throttle but I’ll hafta figure out braking. We’ll see as I dig into it. I’ve never ran a loader with this style of a forward/reverse mechanism

Isn't it just right foot forward, left foot reverse?

I think many of us contemplated it, usually before using it, but once I used the system (and my $0.02 is to keep both feet on both pedals at all times), I would not contemplate changing it. The way the other controls are laid out gives your hands plenty of things to do. For the sort of work that I do maneuvering the PT frequently, I think it is a superior solution, but I didn't have forty years of learned habits to overcome.

So, if I were you, I would give the existing control system a try for a bit before getting too deeply into changing it. That said moving the forward/reverse/speed control to a different system, e.g. hand control is certainly doable.

My other tip is when you start using the PTs spend a bit of time using them at idle or slightly above idle to get used to the system responses. It is a different machine.

All the best,

Peter
