landlady called, wonderful call, successful colon cancer surgery and she is home and ok.
I sent her a get well card which she appreciated.

my route has me stopping for lunch at Puccini's Restaurant in Cumberland MD on Wed Oct 28
unfortunately that seems pretty far West of our crew, but I know it was recommended.
plus it's right on the way before coming through town and looks like easy on and off the main road.
Mighty hilly areas, I bet it's pretty. Or I guess it deserves being called mountainous...

North Branch of Potomac River goes through town where it turns into a creek.

I will be coming back up 81 for quite a ways, hope to see Buppies and others then.
I'll either really have the itch to get home or maybe don't want it to end.

I'm thinking of clearing some space in my gun safe. I haven't shot my Garand, 1903a Springfield or Carbine in years, so they won't be missed much. I have a ton of ammo for them also.

Maybe I should get 'em out for some exercise first and use up the ammo...

Went outside this morning, the house oil tank is at 5/8 of a tank. It is a 200 gallon tank (900 Litres). Hopefully that will last me until November. My oil supplier doesn't like to come out for anything less than 400 L. I usually call him (we are on a 'will call' system) when I get down to 1/4 full. He delivers here on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At 1/4 full if I call on a Thursday afternoon late AND he comes on the following Tuesday like he is supposed to (didn't one day last winter and only pumped 411L on the following Friday), then he will pump 500+L, because I will fill the tractor too.

The roof from one of my portable shelters got torn off by the wind overnight. Got that all cut down, I'll take that to the dump tomorrow. The Z-turn, and both trikes got moved into the garage I keep the Dodge in and for right now the Dodge can live outside. I've got three new roofs waiting to be installed. The hardest one to do is where the Kioti lives, because of both side walls having shelves beside them, loaded with parts and tools.
Sure wish I could win the lottery, then I would get a 30X50' quanset hut built and do away with the portable shelters.

Still didn't look at the bald patch...I forgot, but it isn't going anywhere.

Might look at the trike seat after lunch. IF I can find my tire gauge, then I will check and lower the air pressure to 29 lbs. Manufacturer recommends 30lbs.
I think the rest of the day will be conserve energy.

66 heading to 85...then nice cool down coming.

Had more bad news...my Mom was taken to the ER at 3am Saturday with congestive heart failure. So, have been making daily trips to Virginia Beach to visit. They have used diuretics to help remove the fluid around her lungs/heart. She has improved and they have moved her from the ER to the cardiac care unit, so she finally got some sleep yesterday. I think the hospital staff are angels.

My nephew visited, and at 44 is still surfing. The surfers are in heaven from the big waves that Hurricane Ernesto is pumping in from out in the Atlantic. The East Coast Surfing Championship is there next weekend, and he is entered.

I've got some catching up to do.
Sorry to hear about your mother. But congestive heart failure is treatable and is not necessarily a death sentence. I ended up going to the ER this spring and ended up getting admitted for congestive heart failure. I was out a day and a half later.
I was already on lasic to keep my fluids down, so they did some IV diuretics and dried me out like a wrung out sponge. After a few hours maybe 30 I was feeling back to normal and haven't had an episode since, it is a strange feeling to go from decent to so weak a kitten could kick your butt overnight.

66F and cloudy @ 14:00, calling for a high of 69F for the day. High temps for Mon - Thu supposed to be in the 60's and 70's ... then back up into the 80's and 90's.

Dogwood leaves started to turn a while back now red, hawthorn leaves falling, and starting to see a little color in the maples. A little preview of Fall.

LWS reports 0.02" of rain since midnight, previous day's total finally ended up @ 3.08".

Grass has really greened up and will be no doubt growing like crazy.

Located and dug out 6 boxes of canning jars yesterday, brought 5 of them upstairs. Loaded up the dishwasher with some of the regular mouth jars, need to run those today to clean them. Will re-run them a second time with no soap and using the "Sani-Rinse" option (hot) just before we pack them.

Spent some time on YouTube yesterday, watching videos on cleaning aluminum pots, gardening, and making sauerkraut.

Got Menards order finished and placed, it's ready for pick up. Will probably head down there this afternoon and pick it up.

Stick Menards rebates in the mail on the way out.

Unload van and refill feeders when I get back.

Trigger plate and trip rod for live trap up at shop needs straightened out. Then re-baited and set.

Also need to head out to the garden this evening and see what needs picked.

See what else comes up.

Hope everyone is having a decent Monday ... (y)

the tractor tech cometh, hallelujah!
fingers crossed for you David.

clouding up, looks like a little thunderstorm this afternoon, then much cooler weather comes in.
But I am looking at ten day forecast and heat comes back in by early the following week so I'll be leaving
in warm weather.

I accomplished very little today. Enjoyed being lazy and reading my book. But finished that so time to get something
accomplished. Was going to go out and sit on a folding chair and wax the rv, still might, not far if I get chased in by raindrops.
need to do the front end one more time before I leave, the part that meets the bugs. Will be using a ceramic spray, easy to put on,
decent shine, seems to last a long time.
