You Know You Are Old When

While filling my vehicle with gas today I saw an older guy filling his vehicle on the other side of the pump. I had to chuckle at his t-shirt and thought that really applies to me. The wording on his shirt said “It’s weird to be the same age as old people.” I told him that I can identify with that sentiment.

I remember when I was a kid, I used to dream about going to school and forgetting to put my jeans on. So far, I haven't done that yet.

I always had the one that it was finals week, and couldn't find the class, or realized I had to take a final for a class I thought I had dropped.

I've been retired for a while now, but I still occasionally have a dream that I'm working at some sort of job. Oddly enough, it's almost always something that I never did for a living.

I'm always struggling to figure something out and get something accomplished. There is a level of stress related to not doing the job well enough.

It's always a relief to wake up and realize that I can lie in bed for as long as I feel like. Then I'll do pretty much whatever I feel like doing all day long.

It's always a relief to wake up and realize that I can lie in bed for as long as I feel like. Then I'll do pretty much whatever I feel like doing all day long.

A good buddy of mine retired in 2021, and it took him a good 2 years to shake that feeling that he should be doing *something*, chasing one deadline or another. He was a design engineer, we are slave to project schedules, and hours often approach insanity in the final weeks of any big project.
