That's a SWEET Thumper!!!!

I'm seriously considering a new Honda CRF300L Rally... something lighter than my BMW GS Adventure, that I can get in tighter areas. Sweet ride you have there!

Yes, this XL600 only has 6200 miles on it, got it last year with 4k miles on it. I have a 2016 Ducati MTS 1200S for touring.

Several years ago my wife and I rode around Lake Superior in the late Spring. We just happened to do it during a cold and rainy time. Fortunately we were prepared and the windshield on our Goldwing protected us pretty well as long as we were moving. Rainy 45 degree weather is still not fun on a bike.

Since I worked for a yamaha dealer, I love the TT/XT 500/600 bikes. The motors were/are very reliable, just make sure they have oil. I can still see the engineering leftover from the 75' TT engine in todays engine they use in the Rhino, except they went to 4 valve heads in 1984 if I remember correctly.

My brother had multiple honda XR/XL's, heck he even had the one with the 23" front wheel. Try to find a tire for one of those....

I hear ya!!!!

I'm not a fair weather rider, per se... but, if I'm setting out to ride / commute, and it's raining sideways, I tend to pass. Even with all my goretex Klim gear, I just tend to take the Jeep.

Now, if I get caught in the rain whilst out, no worries. No stranger to the rain for sure... but, the older I get, the more cantankerous I get.

When I retired from the Army, I said there are four things I will NEVER do at the same time again...

COLD
WET
SLEEPY
HUNGRY

I'll do three of the four, but not all four. Wet being my least favorite. :)

Ride often, ride safe!
When I was younger I had a rule about riding, as long as it was above 40F and not raining I would take the bike to work. Now knocking on the door of 60 it has changed a bit. 55F and no rain for today.

I have been stuck in rain and hail before. Geared up and looking like they typical ADV rider, so I looked like a rolling traffic cone. When the hail came the only part that hurt was the top of my feet. There was no armor on the top of my feet and I sure did feel it.

Those are games for the young.

Bad T-storms are to be here today by noon, tornado, hail all that mess, but after that Wed and Thurs are to be nice before the rain starts up again for the weekend. I hope to be on the bike for those two days. I have 11 days left till retirement, I would like to ride to work at least a couple of those days.

And don't forget, if you still do have to work, June 11 is national ride to work day.

Yes Sir.. been in hail as well, no fun! I rode again this morning... I commute to work and back 80(ish) miles round trip. I'm a retired Army Dude, still working as a MIL Contractor. I am lucky, my ride is two lanes of country road rual bliss! It was a nippy 55 degrees this morning, but didn't have to dodge any deer. I prefer two wheels over four, any day. I call it my two wheeled therapy!

June 11th will definitely be celebrated!

Cheers!

I am a 60 mile round trip from work. I have also tagged a few deer, one on the bike, killed the bike and the deer. Left me with three broken ribs, two busted thumbs, but no road rash....that gear again.

That is why all the lights on the bike that will destroy the planet and make me public enemy #1, I want to see those forest rats every chance I can get.

I am on the road at 4am for work every morning. I think mother nature has it out for me for all the creatures I have hit over the years.
